we saw in the 1st match against WI that the left-left opening combination of ganguly and gambhir simply rocks...but i personally feel that a reght-left combination will add the varity...bowlers of opponent teams find it difficult to settle in their lins and length...its ok that left-left combination clicks with the WI bowlers as they don't like to bowl to the left handers...but in WC..against teams like aus,sa,pak...according to you what should be the right combination????

I completely agree with you that right left combination for opening is best. It makes not only bowlers to settle down but fielders also finds it difficult to settle down since they need to change there position every time batsman changes strike. i would like to see the old and proven pair of sachin-ganguly to start the game in world cup.

i think sourav and uthappa r the best combo now and we have the advantage of right hand left hand combination going so
they r gono upset the opposition bowling

i think the best opning combination is the left right combination. so it must be sehwag-ganguly or ganguly-tendulkar. when there is a leaft right combination it difficult to a bowler or the feilding side to adjust with the situation quickly.

i would prefer left right combination and i would prefer the old pair sachin and ganguly to open.they have done well as a pair in many matches in the past.i also would say tat robin uthappa to be taken in the squad for world cup as a third opener

I think players who are matchwinners, with proven class, experince and who are in form and who can score boundaires at will in the powerplays should be chosen for this job on opening the innings. As you want your best players to have the most of the strike and get most of overs to play so that can help indian build mammoth total.
Besides i agree with all of you that left and right hand opening combination is the best as it the bolwers have to vary the line and lenghts to both the batsman and also have to change the field also so one can unsetle bowlers and fielders by left right combination esp. when the pair is taking all quick singles on offer.
I also feel that Sachin-Sourav who are the best opening pair ever for india should open the innings as there is no time for experimentation so close to the wolrd cup. Hope Indian selectors and team managemnt see the common wisdom of all of us and allow sachin - sourav to open.

If it works, it is fine, if it dosen't then there is hue and cry that he should be replaced and he should have been playing ,he should have been left out of the side.Any pair should be given a fair chance to perform without pressure a youngester or any experince player should be told not to throw away their wicket,We should judge did he get out to a really good ball or did played lose shot and he should be warned not to do so again.

Somebody who dont worry about the pace of opening bowlers must open.
Dont go with the performance in India. We always play well here. But the world cup is in WI. So beware of the pace.

wel as for the present team...before the last match agaiinst Wi nthng was goin the way it shoud hav been....but as for the bestb opening pair in ODIs i dnt thnk there can be a better choice than GANGULY abd SACHIN...they are the two most experiencd batsmen in the lot..they hav dn it a lot many times bfore with quite a good success rate...beside the left-right combination also works...wel i dnt think there can be abetter choiice than the two...

I think we have find the right combination of the opening parternership for the world cup. we can replace it by sehwag or the sachin tendulkar. in the first match of windies ganguly and gambhir have shown the right way for the opening parternship for the match. Both the left handers have fought so well and takled the pace bowling so well. i think it still now goes the right combination.

I think It should be Ganguly and Tendulkar.
They have the record breaking partenership behind.
Also left and right combination is always difficult for oposition.

Yes u r right ..usually the left right combination is always better combo than left left combo, bcoz the bowler will no be able to alter his line and length for both left and right handers at a time..and if they rotate singles it would be tougher for the bowlers... i think the best combination would be once again sachin and dada..

a right left combination would be good but according to me it doesnt matter about the combination.our team has never known to have anything as such as a steady combination.they either play terificaly well or fail miserably.so according to me it doesnt matter which combination opens up as long as it is explosive.

it will be good if sachin and ganguly open indian innings as they are most experienced as openers...

I personally like the right left combination. It seems to work better for me but I think it is mainly up to each individual and their techniques and skills.
