Sinus infections and Ketek

I currently have a sinus infection- I found out that I have had one for approximately three months. I was originally prescribed Ketek, which is an antibiotic that is supposedely "brand new". I noticed, however, that my symptoms got worse-not better- and I am now currently on a new antibiotic. I am very curious if others have had issues or problems with Ketek, or if my mother and I are the only ones that it doesnt work on. Thank you!!

Not all bacteria respond to Ketek, according to this page: http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100004750.html
It's probably a good thing that it didn't work for you. I found in a brief research, that there are lawsuits against it for liver damage: "Acute hepatic failure and severe liver injury, in some cases fatal, have been reported in patients treated with KETEKĀ®. These hepatic reactions included fulminant hepatitis and hepatic necrosis leading to liver transplant, and were observed during or immediately after treatment." From this page: http://www.ketek.com/

Thank you very much for your response. I heard something about liver issues, but have been so sick lately that I hadnt had time to check into it. That is horrible- and for one, do not understand why it would still be on the market. Uggh. I am currently on Levaquin 750 now, and hope that this does the trick- without messing anything else up.
