Been there. Worked there. Heard and seen a lot of testimonials and confessions from its people. They are really serious about their jobs. Even their own children can't take a break without their consent. Can you imagine my boss'es son who just got an appendectomy in 3 days, was forced by his father to get back to work? Most of the men there aren't that romantic to their wives. They don't even share the same room. what is that?

Japanese people tend to be more concerned of their jobs more than anything else. They think that they are doing that for their own family's sake. =) Unfortunately, some do it way over board, even forgeting personal hygiene (some Japanese 'forget' to take a bath.)

I spent two years there. However I think I was in a differnet location becuase I personally had several friends that were japanese and I went to their homes for dinner, hung out with them, Had them over to my house and things like that. I got the impression that they are very family centered. The family I went to dinner with a couple time a week were always very loving and open towrad each other and me. They did have like 20 people from 4 generations living in a tiny little house but they were always very nice to me. I will say that as for the hygiene thing I never knew them to smell bad but the dental programs they have in Japan could really use an update.
