Do you prepare breakfast for your kids each morning?

Here in the United States, most states have a 'breakfast program' that is federally funded. This was created because so many of our children were going to school with no breakfast. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and gets your body started.
I understand many families are so stressed for time that it's sometimes impossible to get a breakfast in but I always like to make sure there is SOMETHING there for my kids to grab as they run out the door.
Breakfast doesn't have to be something big and extravagant! Today's breakfast are fresh baked croissants with jelly and some juice or coffee!Do you prepare breakfast for your kids daily?

I prepare breakfast for my children every morning. It's nothing elaborate. We normally have bread with all kinds of spread for them to choose, like peanut butter, jam, cheese or sometimes thet'll take cereal with milk. I don't find it stressful at all because there's not much preparation involved.

I don't have kids but sometimes when I am on holiday I prepare breakfast for my whole and I give rest to my mother. Not only I just prepare for anyone but I prepare for my whole family and that really makes me feel very nice.

Since I am out of the door before my son is and I don't have time to eat breakfast on a good day, he is on his own. We do keep frozen waffles, cereal, granola bars, etc. in the house so if he wants to eat before going to school he can. Somet days he eats breakfast at home and will eat breakfast again when he gets to school.

I make it a point to feed everyone before they leave something or the other. My kid leaves for scholl around six in the morning so its too early for him to eat, he does not feel like eating anything so its generally a glass of milk or a bowl of cornflakes or may be a fruit or fruit salad. Then thye take packed lunch to the school. They eat around ten in the morning so its something light but filling always. These days due to my small daugfhter I do not get up so early so my hubby has taken over this responsibilty , lucky me .

I applaud you and your husband! I understand the kids not being 'breakfast ready' so early in the morning. We're not a big breakfast family either but I try to get them to get at least a little something into them!

You know it is funny that you would bring this up. I don't have any children, but my niece goes to Catholic school and my sister is a single parent. She pays for my niece's lunch but not for her breakfast. Then I found out that my niece was not getting any breakfast before she went to school and she could not eat until lunchtime. I was appalled.
Frankly I think the easiest thing is to feed your child breakfast. Like you said, a piece of fruit, oatmeal bars, some juice, or toast. Anything, I am a firm believer that breakfast will jump start your body and your day.

On weekends, I do. They need it to start the day. On school days, the school supplies it, so I don't let them eat twice.

lets just say that i do but not a very good one. it usually consists of cereal or pop tart. something quick. i was buying the aunt jamima breakfasts, like eggs and pancakes, but i think they were kind of gross. it is hard to make a good breakfast with so little time.

Whole grain cereal is a good breakfast, especially with fruit. We like bread or toast spread with peanut butter and wrapped around a banana. Works well for camping or when we have to get out of the house in a hurry. My kids' favorite breakfast is leftover pizza from the night before, which is actually healthy because we make our own from fresh, organic ingredients.

i hope i do prepare breakfast for my kids, but i don't because i am living far from them. I really hope to be with my kids and take care of them even just once but i cant get them for now since i cant afford to support all there needs. I will soon when i earn much more.

My kids are on the autism spectrum and have picky appetites. So, almost every morning, they get a whole wheat waffle with natural peanut butter (for extra protein) and some butter lite syrup. I serve this with their multivitamin and milk. My son usually also eats a bowl of cheerios and sometimes a granola bar as well. My daughter is hard to get up for pre-school and wastes time. If I don't have time to get her to eat a waffle, I at least give her a granola bar for the ride.

Yes, my kids eat breakfast every morning. They either have pancakes and sausages or bacon, bagels, french toast, scrambled eggs. One morning a week they will have cereal. They try to convince me to make buttermilk waffles a couple of times a week, but unless they tell me the night before so that I can make the batter, they don't stand a chance! They don't like the frozen ones!

hockeygal4ever,
I am a working mother and my children knew they could depend on mom making real breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. During the week there was cereal, toast, pop tarts, oatmeal (the fruit kind you added hot water to), fruit, yogurt, sometimes donuts. As they got older and wanted to eat with their friends they ate breakfast at school or fixed themselves something at home. I was and educator and never liked the school breakfasts, but for those kids that I knew was the only morning meal they had I just wished there was a way they could eat breakfast on those days they were not in school. So I always kept oatmeal packets and pretzels in my office so any kids could stop by if they needed to without being embarased.

Very commendable. I agree that the school's offering breakfast is often the only way some kids would ever get it. I know some children that actually look forward to going to school each day simply because they get to eat. It's so sad.

At ages 15 and 16, I don't prepare breakfast for my 2 girls, except on weekends since they are very picky and wouldn't want it anyway. I try to leave them a snack to take with them, incase they get hungry, but since the school feels them, I don't have to worry. Weekends are much harder. They donot like bacon or sausage or eggs. They will eat bagels, cereal, whatever and since they are becoming independent they usuually want to make their own.

They definitely reach an age where they can fend for themselves! Mine still seem to love me getting them something so they can grab it and run out the door, including their morning coffee. Somehow I think as mums we will continue to take care of them no matter what?! LOL

I have no kid yet. But My mom did prepare breakfast for us everyday. In Indonesia, my country, a morning breakfast before doing activity is a must. And fresh baked croissants with jelly and some juice or coffee are not a breakfast!! They just considered as some morning snack!
What we called breakfast usually assembled from a plate of rice or fried rice, some chiken, egg or meat, and some vegetables. All in big portion and rich flavour....... :D
Have you ever taste Indonesian food? I mean Real Indonesian food? You must try!

I would love to try some authentic Indonesian food. We have a restaurant here that cooks a lot of different Middle Eastern foods that I've been able to try. Most all I love! Is Indonesian spicey?

That's absolutely correct! breakfast is an integral part of meal in a day. For me its a must although I don't prepare breakfast yet for my kid since he is still a baby. Although I prepare for my wife;-)
Our breakfast would include hot cocoa, bread, peanut butter, cheese and cereals.

Breakfast is a thing of the past when people actually had time to prepare breakfast. These days, people are so tied up with work, rest is blessing. I think it's a great idea that you give something to your kids on their way out but do you agree that those "on-the-go" snacks or breakfast treats like pop-tarts are packed with sugars and other non-nutritious ingredients?

They're definitely not good for you. It's tough to find a breakfast food that's "on the go" in format but still healthy!
