What Do You Do When You Feel Burned Out?

I had a really hard time this weekend - I was completely burned out. God helped me through it, but I had to put down everything and just take some time to rest. I felt bad at first, like I was shirking my responsibilities...that's how people who push themselves too hard often think. But my body and mind forced me to take some time off.
I feel much better now. This was the first weekend in many that I didn't do anything. And I really feel refreshed.
What do you do when you feel burned out?

I do just as you did, though on a different level. Photography really relaxes me, and though it is part of my business, I do it for my own pleasure as well. As a matter of fact, I've done some of my best work when I take a trip out just to let go after a long week. I guess because I tend to notice more of the beauty in my surroundings when I'm winding down. Of course, a good vacation with nothing to do but see the sights of a wonderful place I've never been also sooths me (though financially I can't do that as often as I'd like). A couple of years ago I had to work 2 full-time jobs to make ends meet. Days ranging from the normal 8 to sometimes 12 or 13 hours every single day, with no time off and very few "sick" days. What was my reward? I took a trip to Ireland that summer, practically for free (I had a friend who went with me and the military paid for us). It was amazing! We stayed in the country and did nothing but tour the area by day and enjoy the beaches and wonderful 66 degree summer weather. The sun didn't set until almost 10pm, and the sun rose around 7am, so we had some long, blissful days! We stayed for 2 weeks, and I was as refreshed as I think I've ever been after a vacation! Needless to say, it was also one of the greatest photo ops I've ever had, and the perfect reward for a long and hard 6 months!

Very interesting point about the photography...
Someone like myself should probably find a way to rest and be productive at the same time...although I am really refreshed now, part of me still feels like I should have been "doing something".
I am going to have to find a potentially lucrative hobby that doesn't take a million years to complete...I love to crochet, but it takes me a while to get a project done, so it wouldn't be ideal for what I am talking about here.
Maybe amateur photography is something to look into....
Thanks!
