Inter-religion marriages

This is only for joint-families (more than 2 couples living in one house with the same kitchen). Do you think inter-religion marriages are good when the newly-arrived bride is unshakeable in her faith and due to her unwillingness to relax her personal beliefs she is creating a rift in the family? I guess another way of asking this is: Is personal faith more important than family unity?
