For me i always want my friends to be - fun loving, cool, naughty, kiddish and mature at the same time, caring, honest and loyal. My best friend - Pragya - has all these traits and i feel lucky to have good friends like her. We have the most fun and freak out like crazy ! Do you have a best bud like that ? tell me about him/her!

I always look for someone trustworthy, supportive, fun, humorous, outgoing, friendly, sweet, kind, caring, intelligent. I have been blessed to have more than one true friend in this world. I have 4 true friends, the others are acquaintances.
My very best friend is also my roommate. She and I have been friends for many years, we both were single parents with a son. We were able to help each other through the pains of boyfriends, ex husbands, child rearing, taking care of elderly family members, etc.
We are closer than my own siblings at times, we are able to share our darkest secrets with each other and know it will not go any further. I could not ask for a better friend on this earth!

The things I especially look for in a friend are respect, they have to respect who I am and what I am, they have to have a sense of humour, essentially important, I also expect honesty and trust, without these there is no 'true' friendship. Someone there to support you and to listen to you and to offer sound advice. My best friend has all these qualities, we are both ironically Taurean, born in the same Chinese New Year and we seem to think the same and it's like a kind of telepathy, we are extremely close and I know it's wrong but he can't do anything wrong in my eyes. I too am lucky to know him.

The traits that I look for when it comes to a friend. Would have to be honesty. I find it very difficult to find friends in this day & age who are honest to you. I believe that a true friend or a good friend in general will always tell you the truth no matter what. Because they truly do love you & do not believe in hiding secrets from you as well.
I've had a difficult time all of my life finding people who are honest to me. But I am always honest to the people whom I love so I expect the same in return. I believe if a friend cannot be honest to you from the beginning then the friendship isn't worth much.
Another trait I look for when it comes to befriending someone. Is loyalty. I look for someone who I can confide in who won't go behind my back & tell others what I may have told them. I think if I share a secret with a friend or something very personal & they go & tell others.. That I won't end up keeping them as a friend for all to long.
I believe when someone confides in you that what they have told you should be kept between you & the person. And should not be repeated. I find it very difficult to find people who are loyal & who will stand by you no matter what. And once I do find friends who have this trait I make sure to show how much I treasure there friendship & how I will be loyal to them in return.
Another trait I value & look for in a friend is someone who I can depend upon. Who I know when I need someone to talk to or if I am stuck in a sticky situation that if I was to call them up.. That they would drop the things they are doing to be there for me.. I think it's important that you can depend upon someone when it is necessary.
I also value someone who is supportive. Who will be willing to be there for me through the good, but also the bad times. Who won't just run off when they see I am going through a rough trial in my life. But who will stand there beside me holding my hand when I need them the most.
I also look for someone who is a good listener. If someone isn't willing to listen to me when I need them to then I don't think the friendship is worth all to much. Sometimes in life you just need someone to listen to you & the problems you are having in life.. Having someone who is willing to listen to you shows me how much they truly do care for me in the long run. When someone is ignoring what you are saying it shows that they don't care for you or respect you as a person in my opinion.
I also believe that trust is another trait that I tend to consider to be one of the traits I look for in a friend. I believe if you are unable to trust someone with information or just trust them in general.. And are always questioning there motives & so forth.. That the friendship is doomed from the get go.. Because being able to trust someone is very important to me when it comes to having a relationship of any kind with another.
Someone who has a good sense of humor is another trait I look for as well. Sometimes in life you need someone to be able to make you laugh. To lift you up when you are feeling down. I think sometimes if someone know's how to make you laugh that this is very important. I know that I love people who have a good sense of humor as I always need someone to make me laugh at the end of the day quite honestly.
Other traits I look for are: Someone who is Understanding, responsible, how they may treat others, will accept me for who I am (flaws & all). Someone who is mature, someone who has a good heart, someone who will stand up for me despite the costs.. Someone who won't go ahead & talk behind my back.. Etc.. All of these traits I consider to be very important when I am wanting to befriend someone.
I do have a friend like this. And that would be my other half. He has all of these traits & more. And we we're friends even before we had gotten involved in a committed relationship. He has always been the one person who was willing to be there for me when I needed him the most. He was the one person who has been there for me through the good, but also the bad. Who didn't just take off when I was going through a rough trial in my life. I've never had someone support me as much as he has over the years. I can always count on him when I need someone to listen to me, to lift my spirits when I am down.. When I just need someone to just hold me to make everything alright all over again.
In conclusion.. I believe all of these traits I have listed I consider to be very important when I am wanting to befriend someone.. I know that I choose my friends very carefully & will not just be friends with anyone. As I believe sometimes you have to pick & choose your friends carefully.. Just like you do when you are wanting to get yourself involved in a committed relationship.
Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

"Laugh and the whole world laughs with you,
Cry and you cry alone."
But if you ask me, your dearest and nearest will be there with you ,even when you are depressed.
true friends are those who really care for you.
I only expect my friend to be caring. My friends are caring.
I just can' think of a life without them.....phew

One never know who will be your friend. My girlfriend that did not get along with me at first nor I with her is now a great friend. It was only miscommunication and stubborness which we both share and it all worked out. If I was looking to make a friend then I may have missed her. I like friends that are a challenge since it makes me a better person. The more we have in common makes for a solid foundation however differences make things interesting! Am so glad I was in the right place to meet her even though it started roughly.
