Though i am non smoker and don't promote smoking and like people that smoke. But i respect their choice as an adult. So when in india the health ministry of indian government decided to ban smoking in Bollywood films. I think that's not fair. I think that film director is a mature adult and should have creative freedom to express his views through the medium. Though i am against glorifying of smoking in films. but totally banning films is not the solution. Indian film personalities should themselves draw guidelines on the issue and show self restraint on the issue. Then censor board is always there to certify film as adult. But if to build a character it is important to show him smoke or shows ill effects of smoking it should be allowed.

True. Banning smoking in movies will not help people getting rid of it. However, if a person thinks he/she can give up smoking he/she can. Its all in the will power.

I don't think seeing someone else smoking is going to make anyone really want to smoke, I mean I guess if you are a young person, maybe but grown ups can make up there own mind.

it should be banned it makes the young generation addicted to it. if the films r showing to smoke then it is very difficult to stop smoking habits.

smoking should not be banned in films coz it take the charm away from certain characters. imagine a film on sherlock holmes where he is without his pipe.

If movies make it seem so normal and cool, SOME kids will think that is how they can fit in. I guess if you see it more then it seems less danerous, so maybe it would help to ban it from movies.

it wont make difference if smoking is banned in movies... ppl just dont blindly follow someone else's footsteps... but the education against the ill effects of smoking shld b started frm school itself... bcos its at the tender age of teens tht they get addicted to smoking.. thr shld b banners displayed at public places showing the harmful effects of smoking...

smoking ban in movies may not make a difference. The harmful effects should be promoted and awareness created then only it can be stopped
