Futurama is a great show. If you watch the Simpsons, you would definitely get a kick out of watching Futurama.
It's a great show. Reruns are on COmedy Central sometimes. Several times I week, you can catch an episode.
IT is really funny.
What is your favorite episode?

Yeah, Futurama is a really great show... and I don't care whether I'm watching a rerun or not, because I never get bored of an episode.

Could you explain why you think this?
I thought that it was a very well thought out show without the sexuality and crass humour that other adult cartoons like South Park, Family Guy and even the Simpsons sometimes have.
It was fun and full of great jokes that became more apparent the more times you watched each episode. It is multi-layered, with gags catered to both the low brow and witty sense of humour. I honestly can't think of any reason why a child who is allowed to watch the Simpsons shouldn't watch this show.
Please enlighten me as to why you think it is WRONG to allow children to see it.

I started watching it 'full time' when they started airing it at 11:00 pm, right after Family Guy. Until that time slot hit it was hard to catch it in the early evening from the west coast feed. It's a funny show but I wonder if it has the staying power that The Simpsons or other long running animated shows had. My favortie episode? Wow, tough call, probably when the professors kid starts his own package delivery company. That one or when Fry finds out he has 4.3 billion dollars in the bank and blows it on the can of sardines at the auction.

I thought this show was even funnier than the Simpsons. Frankly, I think the Simpsons had a period when they really went downhill, which I believe was during the time when Futurama was being made. Fans didn't really care because they had been watching the show so long that it is like a point of pride to say you saw the new episode on Sunday.
I think Futurama would have had great staying power for a reason that makes the staying power of the Simpsons seem trite. The Simpsons has lasted so long mostly due to the development not of the main characters, but of the other Springfieldians and the fleshing out of Springfield as a setting.
Because Futurama is set in the unknown future where essentially anything is possible, I feel like it would have plenty of fodder for new material that would be genuinely funny and gently remind us to think about the future in a slightly satirical way.
The episode with the big ball of garbage heading for the Earth is a hilarious yet serious reminder that we need to look for long term solutions not quick fixes. By knocking the ball of garbage into the sun, they save the day, but they put another huge ball of garbage into space that will one day collide with earth.
The future is today...
Let's worry about it tomorrow. ;)

I watch Futurama whenever I happen to catch an episode. It was a great show, it's a pity it couldn't have lasted longer, but I have heard talk that there's going to be a new series. It wasn't quite up to the standard of The Simpsons, but it was really funny, and the characters were great.

You know, I hear this all the time, but i think Futurama is the superior show. We have been spoon fed Simpsons episodes for so long that we barely even think about the content any more. It is rare that a Simpsons episode has a message these days. I think we have gotten to the point where we expect new Simpsons episodes, but don't really care about the content.
Futurama was at the very least a commentary on society and the how the way we live our lives today has an impact on what the future has in store for us.
And I just love Fry! And Leela and Bender and Nibbler and Professor Farnsworth...
They are all real charcters, too, not just side characters fleshed out a little more for an episode the way they do to Apu or Otto, or even Sideshow Bob (my fave) on the Simpsons.

Futurama is one of the best cartoon series ever produced and really demonstrates a great imagination. Like most good cartoons it's success depends on the characters, and it certainly has some great ones. i assume that most people would consider Bender to be the best character, although I do like most of them. The only downfall is Zoidberg, who is rather superfluous in most cases.

There are more episodes in Futurama. I am from the South Side of India. At here there is no such channel. So, I am missing lot of Comedys.

I watch the reruns even though I have them all on DVD. The reruns are on Cartoon Network, actually, at night during Adult Swim, and you can get the DVDs from Netflix, I think.
One of my fave epsiodes is Luck of the Fryrish!
