Was Ganguly really cramped after 98 ?

In the 1st ODI between India and West Indies, ganguly scored a magnificient 98 and made a great comeback but i dont understand why he didnt field and is he really so unfit that he couldnt field. Shivnarine chanderpaul has fielded for 50 overs before batting through the WI innings and scoring an amazing 149*. Now no one can even say ganguly is geting older because chanderpaul is also quite old. Is ganguly over confident that he will be in squad after bating and not needing to field as he was probably required for bowling as well

A prudent question. As you know, Ganguly is not exactly known for his fitness and fielding standards. In fact when he was captain he was openly reluctant to attend nets when required. It is a crime if he didn't come out to field knowing that he may have to bowl due to laziness. By contrast, if he was genuinely ill, then he needs to improve his fitness to fare better in the world cup.

yes it's a crime and Indian team can't afford a player who can't do fielding. In a recent interview i saw him saying that he wants to play for two more years but i am not sure he will be able to do that with such a poor fitness.

Ganguly has just come back to the one day team and it is not the best time to point to his weakpoints right after playing a great knock against the West Indies which has helped India to bag a victory against West Indies. Anyway, there must be some sort of trouble for him that prevents him for not coming onto the field. As per the report of the Physio of the team,"He is now OK and will play in the next oneday".

I didn't know that he didn't field because i couldn't see the match as you know the strange channel neo is unavailable in many parts of India. but yes it is really bad that he didn't field. this time he was able to hide this negative point of him because he did score a nice figure but what if he gets out early. Also i don't think that a player of international standard should feel tired after scoring 98 runs. Anyways congratulations to Dada for a great comeback.
