nfs carbon not starting

I recently got my hands on the latest version in the NEED FOR SPEED series nfs carbon. Though the reviews about the game were not that tempting, i was very excited to play the game. Soon I installed the game along the directx and when I double clicked the NFS CARBON the display becomes black for few seconds and then back to desktop. I installed it 3 - 4 times every i installed a different version of directx. So if anyone can give me a solution plz tell me. By the my system specs are Processor - INTEL P4 3.0 GHz HT RAM - 1GB VIDEO CARD - Integrated 128 MB VRAM Intel 915GV Chipset SOUND CARD- Avrack integrated with the motherboard. OS - Windows XP (NON SP2 )
