Would you be prepared to emigrate and live in another country?

Every year thousands of migrants arrive here in the UK to start a new life. We have new arrivals all the time - from India, Pakistan, many of the African states, and also from Eastern Europe. In my life I have lived in many different countries - I can't imsgine having lived my life and only lived in one place - I love the "excitement" of new cultures, new languages, new people and new challenges - but I have always come back to the UK evetually because this is my "home". So my question is - would you be prepared to leave your roots and some of your family to live in another land knowing that you perhaps wouldn't be able to go back for financial or other reasons. What woud make you do it - and what do you think you would miss most about "home" wherever that is?

Well I have already emigrated from UK to Australia, not just once but 3 times. I could never make my mind up where I wanted to be, in the UK or Australia. I have finally decided Australia is the country I am going to stay in, but gee it's taken me along time to decide.

I was born in Birmingham, England and moved to the United States at the age of 17 months. I've always dreamed of moving back to England. I would be a nice change of pace. Anyone from Birmingham, England here? Please tell me what you think of it. Thanks. Lloyd

I'm a real home-bird i'm afraid so I could never imagine emigrating. I'd miss my family and friends too much. If I ever did have to emigrate, then i'd have to move to somehwere that was by the sea, i've lived in various places in the UK and once lived in a very picturesque city, but I really missed the long walks by the sea.

During an emergency, yes. I have lived in different places and havehad different cultures around me. My husband comes from a different country andthe culture is totally different, so I wouldsay in case of an emergency, yes, I have been adapted to many places and environments already.

I'm a American and plan to be one until I die, unless Bush/McCain (is there a difference?), kicks me out of country, as a terrorist, which I, of course, am not. This is even though other places have better disability services in lots of places, especially in Europe!

Well I have done just that.....I'm from Germany and I've been living in the U.S. for nearly 14 years now.The reason I came here was my soon to be ex-husband.I had a lot of people ask me if I was going back to Germany now that my marriage is over.....but the answer to that is no.I went home for a visit just last year and had to realize that I felt out of place. It was hard in the beginnig....but I adjusted well to living here.I do miss my family and of course the food...but not enough to want to live there again. This may sound strange to some people and the saying"there's no place like home" shows that a lot of people feel differently about it.I'm happy living here and I'm always glad that I have the oportunity to back home for a visit.

While I love to travel and visit many different places, I am not prepared to leave my country for good. I love America and yes, there are places I wouldn't be prepared to move to even in my own country. I am a southern gal and I love being in the south. Let me visit, but don't ask me to stay. lol

would never mind to leave my home place n explore new things heading out to a new place would be a good experience in my case "higher education" would be the main reason for moving out to another place moreover there would be so many new things n whole new cultures to learn abt at the other end i think most o the ppl around here would like such a change :) anyhoo as for my homeland thats where i grew up ....family ....friends.. all the environment(for the most part) which made me what i m today!!

I guess the best defense is to attack! So, we have lot of migrants arriving? Well, i will became a migrant soon too! I decided to relocate in China, isn't it the nation with the biggest grow actually? I already gone there lot of times, and is not exactly as the mass-media try to paint. I guess someone is worried coz the "sleeping giant" seems waking up and, i must say, is already well awake. I don't know why mass-media show China like a devil (maybe coz is a "red" country... lol), but i guess the possibilities there are really a lot, and the lifestyle is quite good. The cuisine is good (i guess is the goodest one after the italian one), people is nice, bureaucracy is not so much "complex" (at least if you compare with the italian one), and economy.... well, is growing fast, unlike the western one
