Chain letters in the mail

Why do people send these things out? I think it's so stupid. My husband got one in the mail last week. It was from New Mexico and we don't even know how they got his name.

I haven't seen them around in some time, and I am glad I don't. I have no idea how they get our names, usually a friend of a freind does it. Just dump them when they come, or send it back to the sender and ask them not to mail them to you anymore.

Many companys you do business with sell information to these companys. People can buy these mailing list your husbands name was probly on one of these list.
