It Doesn't Take A Genius To Figure It Out - Why I Post What I Post

Oftentimes when I start a discussion that involves anything relating to Mylot, I get a handful of responses asking me why I'm bothering. Either I'm told 'it's stupid to complain!' - oddly enough, even when I'm *not* complaining - or 'why don't you post about something other than other posts?'.
The answer, or so I believe, is not a complicated one.
I post what I want to post. I post things I want to shed light on, bring attention to, or gather differing opinions on. I post things of interest to me, and things I believe will be of interest to others. And when it comes to posting about Mylot, I do so because....
Each and every person on this site can somehow relate to it. We're all here. We all worship at the mighty alter of Mylot. We are all denizens of the Mylotian state. Topics about Mylot are the only topics that appeal to everyone on this site. And the key to garnering responses here is to make your topic as relative to as many people as possible.
This isn't rocket science. This isn't a mystical philosophy taught to me by the gurus of Mylot. This is just plain and simple common sense.
We all still have that, don't we?

By golly I like how you write. Knowing how to make things hidden in plain sight visible to all is a rare skill. As to all of us still having common sense, well, I would not go as far as to say that.

Thank you, very much! I appreciate the feedback. :D
That was more a desperate plea to be reassured that at least some people have common sense. Or a reasonable facsimile thereof. Just lie to me.... ;)

Wait, you expect people to have common sense? How dare you! Hehe
Don't worry if someone complains about what you post. If they don't like it they can create their own posts after all. I find often the posts about mylot helpful. They let me know if others are having problems or issues, ways to earn more, or ways to get people to read what I post, etc. They are informative no matter who posts the discussion. If they don't like them they don't have to read them. It's their choice. You post discussions you want to because you find them interesting. That's the important part.

I desperately want to believe! But I may as well believe in unicorns. ;)
Oh, I always get complaints. They don't bother me, it just boggles me when people seem to express ignorance as to why I post about Mylot topics and issues. Ah well, either way, people reply!

Good point. If they reply that's good. Always nice to look on the bright side of things.

You have to leave them all behide and post whatever you wish to post. If they don't like it then they don't have to answer to it!

The thing is, they *do* respond! That's what really gets me. Rather than taking their own advice, they respond!

Hi! I'm glad you aren't posting inane political topics like the ones posted by the "I have rights and freedom of speech but you don't" crowd. You know the ones, if they knock something it's okay, but if anyone else does, they're heretics! I'm personally sick of the all the political garbage on the site. You post what you want to post. Everyone else does, and people who don't like it can just move on, as they've told us a 1000 times! :-)

Sorry for venting :-) That's just my way of saying I'd much rather read and participate in a topic of yours than those of the zeolots on this site! :-)

Hey, I've got nothing against venting! Vent away!
And I won't touch politics with a ten foot pole if I can help it. :D

That's supposedly how it goes. I should make a post about how people like to complain and argue, since all my posts that have received close to or over two hundred points are full of people complaining and disagreeing. And then people will complain and disagree about that, continuing the beautiful cycle that Mylot thrives upon....

ahh..
this topic soothes my nerves.
it subjectively does what i wanted to achieve.
the very fact that 'post your opinions , don't infringe on others' comes out perfectly, when it's a post abot how othr people don't respond properly..
but surely when you try this again you will still have people doing the same thing again.
banging their opinion and telling you what you ought to do.
regardless of whether you ask for it, or tell them that they don't want their opnion on your reason for posting, but on the post itself.
hmm, you do have lovely formatting skills.

There are always those who refuse to accept anyone else's opinion. As though they themselves have some authority to be judge and jury of what people may and may not think. I believe in live and let live - despite my own failing of allowing myself to get heated in a moment of intense debate. I am forever inundated with other people's opinions - telling me I'm wrong, telling me I live my life improperly, telling me I what I should and shouldn't post...
Ah, the masses! How loudly the clamor!
Thank you, very much! I'm a writer and wordsmith by trade. Even if I am, by your opinion, I'm mentally ill. ;) (Don't worry, I'm simply teasing.)

and lets everyone else do the same.

Ya people regret by saying such things but i dnt think theres bad in sharing or discussing any idea of yours even if some one else has discussed it before you should also give it a thought because the responces you would get will be different from the person who started similar discussion previously.

great post Miss K. It befuddles me as to why people would respond to a discussion that they had no interest in. If find that after reading a discussion I have nothing to add for a response, I will pass it by. There are plenty of discussions on MyLot, they aren't for everybody. Choose which is best for you and leave the others in peace.

Thank you! That's the way I see it. If I have nothing to say, I don't say anything. It's a pretty simple solution.

Unfortunately there are way too many people who don't have common sense. It seems to me there are becoming more and more people without common sense. These people have "blinders" on, they can only see one way. It is either too much work or they simply don't have the intelligence to see another point of view. I say keep posting, because there will be people who can relate to whatever subject you bring up, whether they agree or disagree. It's possible that your message or postings come off as complaining by the way you phrase things. So many times it's not "what" a person says, but rather "how" they say it. On the other hand, if they don't have any common sense, they aren't going to get it anyway.

Interesting. I'd never thought about it this way but you're right, we all do have mylot in common. Since I'm making a conscious effort to stay away from all political discussions, maybe the ones about mylot are a good common sense alternative. Postings about Mylot are always here so there will be plenty to answer. The posters are usually venting in some way so presumably they don't mind if others do a bit of venting. Frankly, I'd rather raise the number of replies for a posting about Mylot than raise the numbers for a political discussion in which only one side is tolerated.

Ah, the political threads! I stay away from them as well, unless it's a relatively tame one. Even then I find myself leery. I keep to discussions in the Mylot, anime and various television show categories. :D

You can tell from many of the post on mylot that common sense is not to common after all!
You should post whatever you feel like posting, and if tommorrow you want to post a topic with the totally opposite view point , you can do that, too! You do not need any one to give their permission, or okay your topic. If you feel it needs to be posted, post it and let every one who does not like it to skip over it and go to something else. The topic must have caught their eye or they would not have been there to give a reply.

I don't worship anything and common sense doesn't exist. Post whatever you want. I believe you have come up with some great stuff. Every topic means something to somebody.
As I have stated many times here, 20% of the topics will get 80% of the traffic. The same things over and over get most of the attention. That is Pareto's law which applies to much of the outside world.

Oh, that's just a little joke. There was a humorous thread started by a friend of mine about the 'Church of Mylot', basically just poking gentle fun at how seriously some people take discussions on this site. :D

Excellent strategy. Common sense is, indeed, a dying trait in the world today. I would only caution you not to give away all of your secrets lest we be overrun by mylotians posting only about mylot :)

It really is. And I keep trying to discover *why*. Oh, I know that there's no one starting point, no patient zero, no single defining factor we can isolate... but sometimes I wish.

people are rude...ignore those petty stupid responses and post what you want to. posting your thoughts, inspirations, complaints and opinions is what sites like this are for! seems those people have too much time on their hands if they are taking the time to write you a nasty message. Good luck! :)

some of the replies are indeed offensive. But that is the meaning of posting something in a disucussion forum. I mean if you ask somebody's opinion, there will be hundreds of different opinions.

The thing is, there's having a differing opinion, and there's being a horse's behind about it. And then there's stating opinion as fact. That third one is what really ruffles up my metaphorical feathers.

hi there. just ignore these people. i think they are just envious that you get many responses from the posts you make.
let them say what they wanna say, after all you get a few cents for those.heheheh. just keep posting. you're one of the best posters here in mylot.

Jealous? I'm actually... amuse at that. I never really thought that people would be jealous of something as small and trivial as how many responses someone gets to a discussion. I rarely even pay attention to how many responses I get! Wow. If people are attacking me because of *jealousy*... I just have no words.

I'm continually being told offline that I severely lack common sense. However, this post made perfect sense to me.
Moreover, you are most certainly not the only person who posts about mylot. It seems to be the busiest interest on here, probably for the exact reasons you've stated.
I wonder what a guru of mylot would look like? (Sorry, random thought.)
