I dont have a hard name (well when i say it it rolls off the tonuge) but after i say it once usualy others can say it correctly. But its one lady i know who i think says my name wrong on purpose. I always correct her but she still says it wrong. And yes i do think its worth correcting her every time.

If any one say my name wrong, at the first instance tell him poltely to call me correctly. But if repeatedly say knowingly or unknowingly, I will have to use harsh words to correct the man or woman. Even after this, he/she continued to say my name incorrectly, I will stop talking with them. I caanot take legal action

I do correct people if they would pronounce my name wrong, even when they pronounce my best friend's name wrong. I think it's important for people know how to pronounce your name or else they'll just be ignorant of the proper pronouncation.

It's a little hard to pronounce my name wrong (Pat). But some people have trouble with the full version, or they make their own shortened version, THEN I will correct them. Don't call me Patty!

I never correct people who pronounce my name wrong. I just feel it is impolite to do so. I will correct them however, if they call me by a name that is not mine and I will tell them what to call me. If I think I will never have to meet or talk to the person again, then I would just leave it be, and not bother to tell them.

my name is Saira and most of english people pronounce my name as Sarrah... and i alwasy correct them to pronounce 'I' after A to sound Saira rather then R after A... it really does effects me beacuse it is huge difference between Saira and Sarrah.... if i dont correct people then my original name will be lost and people will keep pronouncing it wrong all the time.

I have an easy first name, but a very difficult last name. I do correct them if they pronounce my last name wrong. I just know that if I were pronouncing someone's name wrong, I would want to know and be told, so I make sure I correct them when they pronounce my name wrong. I don't think there's anything wrong with correcting them.

its nothing wrong at all correcting someone who says your name wrong. Just some people scared to do it ... they think "oh i might offend him/her if i correct her" NO your offending me by saying my name wrong.

I correct people every single day. I have a very hard name. My name is Irish and if your not Irish, you have no clue on how to say it. I hate when people say my name wrong, but I can understand that it's hard but I always correct them.

I have an arabic name which is not common here. People pronounce my name wrong ALL the time. I just got used to it. They ask me if they're correct so I correct them. It doesn't bother me. I think it's funny the way people add in letters that I don't even have in my name.

Yes, all the time!!! Since I left my country, most of my discussions with the various people I meet, start and end with the: -"What is your name?" -"that" -"What???". They just cannot pronounce it, and most of them not even try. Sometimes I just give up, and answer in every possible variation you can imagine. But at least I know they don't do it in purpose (most of them). I think you do fine to correct that lady every time, it can be annoying sometimes this think
