I just hate it when folks sneeze or cough and don't cover their nose and mouth .. and all that horrible 'hawking' noises some folks make, ewwww that turns my stomach .. then theres the folk who 'fart' and 'burp' in public .. are good manners being lost .. or is it just that folks don't care anymore ..

I hate it when people cough and sneeze without covering their mouth and nose. Unfortunately several member of my family are very lax when it comes to manners. I am proud to say that my daughter (only 5) has excellent manners and will join with me when OH breaks wind to remind him to say excuse me. Manners cost nothing and mean a lot but it appears that very few people would know good manners if they came and smacked them in the face.

I find that manners are important and for some reason people are loosing their manners or are not caring. I don't know which. Maybe their parents didn't teach them manners because their parents didn't care. I'm not sure. But I think it is gross for a person to sneeze or cough and not cover their mouths! Tuberculosis is passed by coughing and sneezing. But also many other things are passed by coughing and sneezing! If I were sick or even getting sick and didn't know it, I certainly would not want to pass it on to an innocent person! So, I do care and I teach my children their manners! :)

I just think they don't care any more. Like at my child's school, teachers teach the children to walk on the right hand side of the hallway. However the teacher will do the opposite and if they get in your way, they don't say "sorry" or "excuse me" , the act as if you just slapped them or something. I think manners went out the window a long time ago an it just kills me.

it does annoy me when people dislay bad manners in public.it is ok when they are in their homes burping away and sneezing but in public they should know how to move them selves around.and we can say most of the values are lost nowadays and no one cares about manners anymore..it is upto the people to be concious and try to show some manners especially in public.at least those who dont, start trying to.

I know what you mean. It is disgusting. No wonder there are so many germs and viruses around. I think manners are definitely being lost...and then there are some who just don't care...or are not taught what manners are all about.

The worst thing I hate is seeing people spit, that turns my stomach, it is the most unsociable, disgusting habit there ever is, ok so people fart, it ain't nice but you can't help it, and if it's discrete ok. Burping in some cultures is considered etiquette after a meal, if you don't burp it is considered rude! But as we are in the West, I agree burping isn't social. My housemate has a tendancy to sneeze without putting his hand over his mouth which is a pet hate of mine, seeing as I am easily susceptible to germs, and I have bad sinuses which if infected are extremely painful. I hate people in restaurants who use mobile phones, its very intrusive and it's extremely unwelcome

Putting hands over your mouth when you sneeze is a terrible idea. You get the germs all over your hands and then you leave them all over doorknobs and telephones where they get spread to other people. It's actually *safer* to let it spray into the air where it will just settle onto the ground. Safest of all is to sneeze onto the crook of one's arm. As for burping and farting, it can be physically painful to hold in gas and wouldn't ask anybody to be in pain just for the sake of politeness.

People really just don't care any more. We have become calloused to bad manners, we watch homer simpson on the television pick his nose, and that's considered good t.v., and it's supposed to be humorous. The same reason people think it's appropriate to curse in public, or even on the job, because they hear it all day long, on the t.v., on the radio and eventually out of thier own children's mouths. It's sad what our world is coming to eh?

Yes that is a horrible thing! I almost always get anoyed while people can't be polite enough or just dont have good manners! I would in situations like that just stand up and say "behave yourself as a civilizated human being!" but well i'm not brave enough to do this to the person i dont know or i know a little

Yes I hate it with a passion, I totally agree with you!! I hate especially when people cough and sneeze without covering their mouth and they're standing right beside you and act like they're doing nothing wrong. Another bad manner I hate is when people play too much with their hair at resturants, I don't know why but it really bothers me!!
