For me the most disgusting thing I ever had on my plate was squid .. I was on holiday in Spain and we had gone to a little hilltop restaurant .. fabulous views over the countryside and you could see for miles .. but the menus were only in Spanish and as we had travelled out of the usual tourist area the waitors didn't speak very good English .. I had thought I was asking for some kind of a stuffed piece of chicken ..
Everything was going really well .. we had a lovely rustic pate as our starter, and then they brought the main course .. my 'chicken' had been cut into pieces and rolled in some sort of coating .. it looked lovely and was still sizzling on the super hot plates ..
I forked up a piece of my 'chicken' popped it into my mouth and ewwwww yukk .. it was horrible ... I was gulping down water to take the taste away ... whatever is it I asked my partner .. no idea he said .. just then a different waitor came across and in broken English told me it was squid .. .. eugh !!

I don't really eat out often but the worst I had was in Sweden. I asked for the vegetarian option in this kebab restaurant I was taken too and it was mushrooms covered in hot sauce. I hate mushrooms and hot sauce hates me so not a great meal.
Never tried squid and never intend to.

Ewww, I definitely agree there Toots, although when I was first served up a plate of seafood, it wasn't in a restaurant it was actually at a friend's house. She had quite a crush on me and invited me round for dinner. She didn't ask me what I liked and served this dish up, not wanting to offend her I tried it and yes when I put a piece of squid in my mouth I nearly barffed, it was like chewing on rubber. I was in an embarrassing situation, what do you do? I said it was er, an acquired taste, I ate everything else but in the end I couldn't do it, I just couldn't eat another morsel of it. The relationship never went anywhere, thankfully. The thought of getting any more surprise dishes put me off!

I can't remember anything I have ever eaten in a restaurant that was nasty. Not like what you experienced. The worst I had was half cooked chicken.
