What's the craziest sport that you've ever heard of? Chances are, you didn't know that pillow fighting is now a professional sport here in North America! *laugh* I was just reading a news story about how professional pillow fighting got it's start in a Canadian nightclub last year. how crazy is that? Professional pillow fighting! *laugh* Honestly, what will they think of next? ^_^
From what I read, the rounds last for five minutes, and are won by pinning opponents to the ground (sometimes with the help of a pillow around the opponent's throat) or by belting them so hard with said pillow that they surrender.
So, what _is_ the craziest sport that you've ever heard of? Or participated in? What do you think about this story? Feel free to share any thoughts! ^_^

LOl, and I thought bowling with frozen turkeys was bad! I have two little girls that just might want to try out for that pillow fighting thing. You reckon it may be added to the Olympics?

That sounds like fun, i'll get myself a nice thick pillow and enter next year. Craziest sport i've heard of (if you can call it a sport) is Cheese rolling, its an annual competition in the UK whereby people roll cheese down a very steep hill and then chase after it. Its actually quite a dangerous sport, people get injured every year

Oh yes, the famous cheese rolling. It is quite a while since I have seen this, and I do not think that they televise it any more, which is a pity because it was always good fun to watch.
Britain may not be a leading power any longer, but we can still teach the world a few things when it comes to being silly.

LOL, i've heard of the cheese rolling event before! I even knew about the fact that people are injured in it every year. It's crazy that people want to be involved in such a silly, yet dangerous, sport! But.. even with the fact that cheese rolling came from Britain, that doesn't deter me from my love of England and Britain one little bit! *laugh* In fact, I love that they would take on such a wacky sport. ^_^

There are far more bizarre sports than that. Over the past 10 years or so the most outrageous sports have started to gain popularity.
Pillow fighting would be a simple sport to get into and would not really cost anything, therefore it is not surprising that someone would try it. However, many strange sports require equipment and therefore a financial outlay, so it is far more surprising for them to become popular.
How about Underwater Hockey? The World Championship was held in the United Kingdom last year:

Sounds more like a "sport" then freaking POKER!!!!! LOL I am amazed at what they will classify as a "sport" anymore. It's getting to the point of if they can make money off it somehow and get others to watch, it's a sport.
How whacked!

For me the craziest sports I've seen is the one that uses a skateboard or something where the person is lying on the skateboard and then dragging himself on the street. I don'ty know the exact name for that. I don't why you have to ride it while lying when you can wride it while standing.

Its amazing what ESPN2 shows in the off hours. Ive seen competitive CUP STACKING. They stack cups quickly.... I've also seen professional arm wrestling and professional rock paper scissors tournaments. Pretty stupid what some people consider sports...

Professional pillow fighting? WOW! Finally a sport where I might have a shot LOL! ;)
There are some truly wacky competitions out there... but I guess if someone is willing to sponsor it or put up prizes, people will try! Here's a few that I don't quite "get".... apologies, in advance, to any fans... lol
Cup stacking (my kids' elementary school got into this one and the stupid cups are EXPENSIVE! LOL)
Competitive eating (I can't really watch this kind of thing... ick!)
Professional fishing
Professional miniature golf

I can't think of any particularly crazy sports I've taken part in, but I do know that there's a MySpace for "Pillowfight PDX", which is sort of like a flash mob, but it's all pillowfighting. The event is supposed to take place downtown once a month or so, but it hasn't in several. I've seen pictures, but haven't participated (yet!). I can't think of any others at the moment, but curling has always seemed like such an *odd* sport.
