What would you prefer-- having a male or a female obstetrician? I am a very shy person and so it was really a requirement for me that my obstetrician be a female one. I consider myself very traditional and having a male doctor poke and peek inside me sounds very uncomfortable. How about you?

I am also not comfortable having a male obstetrician. I'd prefer a girl ob. It's already embarrassing that a person I am not familiar with examine my private parts. What more if it's a man other than my husband?

i also felt i should get a female gyn. but in my hometown there weren't too many options so i finally had to see a male. and i was so ashamed and shy i almost wanted to go away. but i was lucky. i think he realized how i felt and afer giving my first exam he took time to chat with me. so i felt alot more relaxed afer that and made him my favorite doctor lol. i refused to see someone else ever since and even though i once had been forced by circumstances to check a gyn from another town (i had lived for 2 years in another city) i thought i'd choose a female this time. and it was so awful. she was very cold, she was a little gruff while examining me, so it was a 1 time visit. during those years i used to go to my hometown for examinations lol

I certainly would go for a female OB. I am also very shy and hell I don't want another guy looking inside me. That's just creepy =(
I even asked my husband if he would allow me to get a male OB and he also didn't like the idea. It's a good thing that it's something we both agree upon.

I have a male ob/gyn. This is simply because I called in to make my first appointment (over 20 years ago now) with my aunt's ob. My aunt had told me so much about the guy that I felt I already knew him and liked him. Well...he was no longer accepting new clients because he was getting ready to retire. So I just told his office to set me up with whichever of his partners had an opening. I really liked the guy so I stuck with him. He had young children at the time and was always willing to listen and talk to me.
