I have noticed that when people posts and you reply and ask a question..it isn't answered.. I think most of the time this site is more like a poll then a discussion..What do you think? Do we really discuss or do we post our opinions and run:) .. I become guilty of this too so fingers point my way too:)+

I see where you're coming from. I've always thought that a discussion would have perhaps, a story or something and a series of questions to base the discussion on afterwards and the contribution of opinions, arguements and views/similar stories. But then it mostly seems like people are just answering to the original poster and so yeah, probably if you ask a question in there, theres very little chance someone else may come across it and answer it for you, even though its in the same topic. I think that means that people will have to start their own new topic to get that question answered, even if its just a little bit.. Though I think most of the time it's post opinions and run, rather then stick around and reply to others in someone elses post (if that is discussion). I hope I'm making sense, sorry :o

Ok..I see everyone has the point and understanding of what a discussion is all about...but is it really possible with so many people in here?

Yes, it does feel like some people post something and then never look at it again. It may be because you don't get points for responding to responses. So if one is here just for the money, it is a waste of time to return and read what others have said to you. If you are here for discussions, as many of us are, you will see responses to your questions and comments.

You get points the firs time you respond to the topic, as long as the person who originates the topic is able to respond back to you. I always try..some days are busier than others. I wish there was a way to respond to others via email instead of logging on and responding but then mylot wouldn't make any money:)+

Yes, most of us here just give in our responses and don't bother to check back on comments. But again, checking every topic you've responded to is a herculean task as it is very difficult to actually spot your response among the 100s and you have to sift through pages before you find your response. I feel bad when I can't check back to see if someone has left a comment, but when I do come across the ones I've responded to, I give a quick peek. I've noticed if there is a "discussion" at all, it's on the first page and many users argue or actually discuss a topic. Later, its the usual responses and opinions. There is no debate as such.

You're right. I've seen discussions in a few posts, but people are mostly here to earn. And I think that most of us learn pretty quickly that we don't get paid for replying more than once to a topic. That does, in essence, make this place seem more like a polling system than a discussion system. But I do see some good conversation flowing back and forth here and there. It just isn't the norm. It only happens once in awhile.

Yes, I think a lot of people do that. I don't know how much of it is intentional. Sometimes, a topic will take off with unexpected speed, making it very difficult to keep track of. Then, you have the users that don't want you to respond to everyone's comments. They find it annoying. I try to find a happy medium by responding to a few comments in a topic and answering any questions that have been posted there.

Yes it does..I know I had one exceed 300 ..I guess then you need to have to hire a helper to respond to all the posts;) I love discussing things but sometimes responses to lend to discussion:)+

Don't worry my dear friend as I am guilty of doing this myself with discussions and comments. We should be doing more discussing but I think we get so overwhelmed with responses that it can be hard to keep up with every discussion but I know that I try. It may take some time but I try to go back to my discussions and reply to any questions asked.

i find it hard sometimes to go back through all your discussions responses and to answer all of them. and some are just a little irrating, like i posted a discussion about a website i found, and alot of people wanted to know more about. why keep asking about it and not just go to it and check it out? geez. sorry i vented.
