it's tax season and I don't want to step on any toes here but as a hard working tax paying citizen it enrages me on how people abuse the system in america. Are we that spoiled and lazy that we have to lie and steal from an already in debt government? I am married and have one child and my joint annual income is around $85,000 per year. We pay a lot in taxes. We are not at the upper spectrum with the upper class americans who pay more but still when i file my taxes, i'll be lucky to get a couple thousand back from state and federal. Now take my friend "Belle" for example:
Bell is 27 years old and has 2 children. She lives with her boyfriend of 10 years and draws WIC, medicade and EIC for tax season. She makes under 25000 per year as a "single" mom so she generally gets back oh about 8000 for her federal tax return alone. Her bf who files separately using a different address which is completely illegal, gets back around 1-2k. they take this money and buy rims. yep rims for their Yukon. I am so sick of married people being punished for being married and honest. I would never cheat on my taxes nor would my husband so it enrages me when Belle brags about her return and all the nice things she's going to get with it. Keep in mind, she does not pay for hospitalization because of medicade, nor some of her food because of WIC and she is still behind on her bills. People who get government cheese should really have to be visited by monitors and if they get a new set of rims for their car, they should have to account for that and pay the gvt back what they spent on those extras. I know everyone needs little extras here and there, but not friggin 4000 rims for your stupid Yukon. Thanks for checking in with my weekly rant issue #1. Check back next week to hear what I have to say about stupid people and procreating (just kidding--i'm not sure what my next topic will be about lol!)

LOL people like that work on my nerves as well. My ex-husband got to claim my son on his taxes for 2005 (he only lived with us for 5 months of that year) and even though we supported my son that entire year, him being a single dad and being able to claim my son on his taxes, he got a ton of money back. He was complaining about how his bills were past due and how he couldn't afford to pay any support, then one day pops up with a brand new $25K SUV. That still annoys me a year later.

i know how to fix that. carve the words "government cheese wagon" on the side of the suv with your key. you'll feel much better!

$8000.00 thats a lot, there is a fraud line at the IRS you can report them. I work with a girl a few years ago, and she always use her refund for big screen tv etc. I think a lot of those programs should be repeal. The government is actually stealing money from some people to give it to some. We the honest citizens are stuck with the tax burden while these people get over. It's really ridiculous.

well just like people who take in foster and adoptive children have to be monitored, i think that people who "qualify" for these programs should be audited. They should make it more difficult to qualify for them. I don't think they should take them away but I think it should be temporary. I don't think that a child unless his parents are disabled should qualify for medicade from birth through highschool. I'm not saying that there aren't circumstances that would overturn that but for the most part no. Anyway, thanks for posting and for the info. Keep an eye out for other weekly rants to come every monday evening!

okay first off, he can file his taxes seperately because they are not married, but they both can not claim head of household. But as far as the WIC, if they are not including his imcome then that is cheating that program. Because I am single mother too, and my boyfriend lives with me, we both are filing seperately from each other, but i am claiming head of household. I got turned down for day care help because they took into consideration what my boyfriend makes also, and together we made too much.

married people can file separately. I'm mainly ranting over the fact that not only is she stealing from the govt but she is spending it on needless crap instead of being responsible and investing in her childrens futures. I applaude you for being honest. I think more single moms with livins should be. unfortunately there is a very thin line that allows them to cross over and boy money looks good when you don't have much to go around. money looks good when you do have some to go around too ;). Thanks so much for posting and look for more rants to come!
