Is a Draft a good or bad idea to beef up our military? What do you think?

I honestly think that it is a great idea. I think this is what this nation needs. I think if the US Government started to draft people to fill its ranks then there wouldnt be so much animosity towards our military and then people can see what a military man/woman have to deal with and then some people would actually have some kind of self respect. My self being an active duty soldier in the US Army I am proud of my job and what I have sworn to defend. The draft would not only fill the military's ranks but also rid the government of the high unemployment rate. It would also solve the nations obesity problem. Im all for the draft.

The draft is a bad idea. We have an excellent Volunteer Military now. Why mix a bunch of lower quality people into the military and reduce the high standards. the Average Solider is above average intellengence and is better educated that the general population. the present system is working so why fix something that isn't broken.

No, I don't think it's a good idea. ALOT of people don't believe this war is in the morally right, some don't believe in fighting. The Draft goes against ALOT of our american rights..I mean for some it goes against their religion..
AND, not to mention I thought the main thing our country's about it freedom, in EVERYTHING..including our right t choose what we do with our lives.
Sure, the army'd be like "OMG! Yay! Lots of new soldiers!" but it'd be a huge blow for our civil liberties. Especially because refusing to comply would mean that the person is breaking the law..forcing people who simply differ in opinion to becom hunted fugitives. That's just..wrong.

personally I don't agree with it as not every one is made of the stuff to be good in the military, I think people should still have a choice... let the people who start the wars be out in the front line before taking away a persons choice on the matter...

I think a draft is a good idea, because presently 95% of our military is drawn from the poorest 5% of the population. If that same military had been drawn from a cross section of the population, or had even 1% from the wealthiest 5% of the population, the war would have been over years ago!
When it is rich mens children doing the dieing and among those beeing maimed, their thirst for war booty is often slaked!
