With the demand of mobile phones these days, do you still have a house phone? I have heard a lot of Americans only now have a mobile phone. But it's too bad that when someone calls you, you also get deducted minutes. I'm in the Philippines and I have to have both. Where are you and what do you have?

I am also from india and i strongly feel most indians use mobiles as it is quite affordable now, even the poorest of poor can afford it in india from rural, country side where there is noninfrstructurs to urban areas froms treet hawkers to business leaders. Even people who had landline phones are changin their phones and ar buying mobiles because it is better in terms of cost, service, and so on.

well I have a landline and no cell phone. I don't find the need for a cell or mobile phone. Anyone who wants to get a hold of me can leave a message at home and I'll call them back later. It's not like I'm in a profession where someone needs to get in touch with me 24/7.

I am from India and in the last decade there has been mobile revolution of sorts in our country as private players where given the licence to provide mobile phone services in India. I think this has been a boon te telecom sector needed as now due to competition finally consumers were getting better facilities as monopoly of government enterprises that had monopoly oner landline phone services was broken. And so most people who couldn't afford landline phoens have now bougth mobiles phones ars they provided better service at affordable rates. There is accoutability in system as complaints are handled better, there are plans which suits everyone, then mobile is portable and can be everywhere. And for it you don't need infrastructure to set up so it has reached rural areas too. then it is forcing govt.sector also to buck and become more efficient. And here incoming domestic calls are free too.
