I think they have taken the whole joy out of air travel, once upon a time it was exciting to go anywhere by plane now it is frightening.

It has made travel a whole lot safer, but at the same time, more frightening, BUT it has made us aware of these dangers to try to eliminate them. I don't think that the joy has been taken out of it. I still love flying.

Air travel has been destroyed not just by the acts of terrorism which lets face it have been a part of travelling for decades from hijacks and bombings to the other atrocities of september 11 2001. However, I think the whole issue has been made even worse by the Government's reactions to terrorism, now everyone is treated with suspicion, is assumed to be guilty. I am a huge fan of aviation, I love watching planes, photographing them, videoing them, above all flying on them. But everytime I go to watch planes I feel like a criminal just for being there. It's wrong and shouldn't be that way. Aviation is an amazing feat of engineering. The businesses are interesting on many levels, it's a tough industry in which to operate. Terrorism is about making people feel ill at ease, unfortunately some of the reactions of our governments have played directly into the hands of terrorists by saying ok we're going to change everything about our civil liberties, our freedom of movement and you have succeeded in disrupting that. It's sad.

Airline travel has been greatly affected by terrorism. But even with all the new security rules and regs in place it will NEVER be 100% full proof. There will always be risks involved. That is just the way of life. When I travel I like to keep my luggage with me at all times. Due to all the new rules and regs it is extremely difficult to travel WITHOUT checking your bags. I can't take certain types of make up with me now. Everything has to be powder based. Is there such a thing as powder based mascara? No. So now whenever I travel I have to buy mascara and then throw it away. The terrorists in this world have ruined the simple life for simple folks. We have all paid the price in one way or another.
