how can you say that you can trust someone?

how can you say that you fully trust a person that you know? even if she/he was your friend ever since you were kids, how can you be possibly sure that you can trust him/her with your life and everything in between?
how can you say that he/she keeps your secrets and doesn't use them to blackmail you?

You have known this person long enough to come up with
an opinion. Does she talk about other people behind their
backs and gossip about them? If she does then most
likely she will about you too.
You can test her by telling her something that only you know, and see if someone else asks you about it..Just a suggestion.. Good luck :)
