I cannot compare both operating system, because until now I still have not tried using any version of Linux. I have known some info about it from some blogs and forums that it's much stable than Windows and uses less resources/memory from your PC. And best of all it's free. But ever since I was a Windows user from way back Windows 3.11, and now using Windows XP. I would like to try Linux sometime but not at this moment, coz I'm happy and contented with the performance of XP. How about you?

Linux. It is far and away the more configurable system, carries with it the utilities and abilities that are needed to do serious changes and is probably the most stable when correctly configured and installed. There is no one part that can't be changed, reconfigured or even replaced with an alternative program.

Well, There cannot be any comparison between the two according to me because both have something unique in each of them. Though i havent used linux yet but still i read about it and its as popular as windows. Windows is normally preferred because of its ease of operation. So, i'll go for windows but i would really like to use linux some day.

I still cannot understand y everybody post that windows is simpler to use than linux without trying out the latest versions of linux...i do not disagree with the point that windows is user-friendly...but linux too has bcome as user friendly as windows....so plz stop lamenting that windows is the only user-friendly OS....as far as the question is concerned, i prefer linux though i have windows in my system for some purposes...and if u do not want to get ur hands dirty u can try out live cds of linux distros which are available free and which can be directly run from cds...i wud recommend ubuntu....it is superb....and it is free..just think of how much money u can save when the os is free and all the softwares that u need are free...anywayz its ones own comfort level that matters....i m very comfortable with linux....but i want to say one more time to everyone that linux is as userfriendly as windows...

i have used both linux and windows... while linux enjoys the open source programmers.. ,,... i have started using linux very late.. me too was windows user... and still am not fully conversant with linux.. but linux has much more better security and many other features.. while windows is more user freindly.. so you can say windows is an operating system for a common man.. who does not need to know the intricacies of system.. while linux is more for engg. and scientists and the industry ppl....

I have always prefered Windows. From Windows 98 to XP and media center versions that i have used, microsoft has gone a long way to build up a large customer base and support. i won't quit using windows and i am planning to get Vista once i upgrade my PC..... But to learn the basics and for some challenge of using a PC, i may use linux version but windows will always be my primary choice.....

Our school once tried using the Linux program and the students did not like it. I myself do not like it. Though it is much colorful than Windows, I still say that Windows is a much customer-friendly program. One can easily understand Windows because everything are organized, in Linux, icons are more present, which are sometimes difficult to comprehend and understand.

I was awake that Windows is only operating system that's available in the market, only just late..hmmm, about a year or so, that Linux is right out there for couple of years or a least a decade already, I've started using Desktop Linux almost a year right now (I'm not to expert ye)
Linux flavor: PCLinuxOS
another interesting OS that is coming out from shell is ReactOS (Windows compatible OS)

windows is windows a very easy to use interface even a layman can learn it very easily and fastly. where as LINUX provides rich security features uses less processor time saving systems resources but its usability is not that simple....once you have a clear understanding of the complete software then only you can go for it.....its better if u continue windows

I've been using Windows eversince it was first released. I find it easy to use and user-friendly. I've tried using Redhat but I still find WinXP better. =)
