brake light fails to come on st all

I have a 88ford mercury grand marquis and i have no brake lights at all now i would like to know if it is a electrical problem or if it has something to do with the brake relay switch underneath the brake pedal

do you have any parking lights at all? have you checked the switch behind the brake pedal? If ok on these, possible ground wire?
