I guess it should be allowed only if local markets are not strong or having monopoly in that particular market. If we already have a strong market locally then FDI will take away a large portion of our local GNP. It might improve our balance of trade if it is supporting any production of any product which had to be imported previously but again it depends the conditions of retail markets in that particular country.
