Repo of car diverted.

Things are really getting tight with our finances. I just arranged to make a couple of interest payments on our car loan. Thankfully our bank is understanding to our predicament and has been working with us. Even the interest payment was difficult to come up with. They say you have to hit rock bottom before you can go back up. I believe that we have reached that point.

Necessity if often the mother of invention so try not to think how much worse can it get, it can. Since our housefire we have treaded the water the best we have been able to. Help only lasted a few months. Fortunately I have gotten jobs and kept some money coming in and since my hubby has gotten work again, he had lost his job just before the fire and found work 1 year after the fire, we have done just ok. Many months someone is mad at us, however, they do eventually get their money. We are with you in the struggle department and offer encouragement. Just keep working the best way that you can and for both of our sakes, hope that it eventually pays off and we can become full paying citizens again!!

More often than we think, lenders are willing to work with us if we just let them know what's going on. Of course, there are some that don't budge and I always tended to pay them last when I was in a bind. I figured if they weren't going to work with me they would just have to wait it out. It's no fun, but I am glad that my situation has turned around. I'm sure yours will too soon!!!

Well done for digging deep and finding those payments .. I well remember those 'bad times' when I was a near destitute once .. it's such a worry .. I wrote to all the places I owed money to and asked them if they would freeze the interest .. I was very surprised and much relieved to find that they all would .. this meant I could pay off the remaining money much faster and soon got myself out of the 'money muddle' I was in ..

So glad to hear the bank is working with you. That's not always the case as I well know. I have been out of work with a disablility since June of 2005. I have insurance on my car loan. But the insurance company doesn't pay by the banks schedule. They have some strange system they use. Most banks don't care. The insurance company pays monthly but your payments are late because they are on their own schedule. My car payment is $ 147.50. Back about 8 mos ago. the bank said I owed $ 98.00 because of the way the insurance company pays them. I told them I didn't have it but would call the insurance company for the millionth time and find out about it. I called them and then calle back my loan officer at the bank. She is a psycho in my opinion. She again wanted to argue about the insurance company and how they pay. I finally said, "look, you signed me up with the damn insurance company. If your bank didn't like the way they operate, then why did you offer it to me in the first place. She went on about how it's not her concern, her concern is that I pay my car payments. She said my car was going to be reposessed if I didn't pay the 98.00 by the following Monday. The next evening which was a wednesday my car was reposessed during the night. I was so ticked off and actually I still am. My psyco loan officer tried to blame another girl in the office. I called the girl right after talking to her, she said she was given the go ahead and that's what she did. I was able to get the car right back and paid the 98.00. I got out of paying the storage cost because the repo guy was very nice and understanding. I can't wait till it's paid off. I think I owe about 600.00 only if I could just pay it off myself I would. I just had to argue and call the insurance company again yesterday. You are so lucky to have an understanding bank.

Local banks are usually pretty good, and that is what works for us. I am so glad we do not have car payments, but we do have all those credit cards. They will not stop the interest, or stop the late fees, that is why we keep coming up short. Our bank has been super. We keep utilities, phone, housepayments paid. The rest get crumbs is all. That is what we have. There have been times when we paid the interest only on the house. It is not unusual for hubby to miss work because of a back spasm, or like yesterday, he fell and injured a knee and his ribs. One night he passed out at work. It is just one darn thing after another. When will you hear about a job? Are there any prospects for hubby? I think I need to get busy and get successful on e-bay, to pay off a few things.

We own our truck, so luckily we don't have to worry about that being taken away. I am glad you were able to work something out with the bank. But I know how you are feeling about hitting rock bottom. My goal since last Friday is too keep my house warm. I ran out of propane and we didn't have the money to get more mainly because they charge an extra $150 for an emergency delivery. Propane runs the furnace, hot water tank, and stove so I'm sure you can imagine what I have been going through. I had to swallow my pride and go down to the local social servives and apply for HEAP. I didn't want to do it but I had no choice. So now I am at their mercy...just waiting for approval and for a propane delivery. But even though things are tough, I try hard to remember that things could be worse. I think about people who don't have a house to live in and don't have enough food to eat. Its hard sometimes to remember that but I think it helps. I have a motto that I live by...when you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Hopefully you will get the job that you just interviewed for- be sure to let us know! You're doing the right things by speaking with the banks and creditors about your situation before you get too far behind. Many people don't realize that most banks are very willing to work with you and arrange for you to pay a lower minimum payment or even just interest in order to remain in good standing. The worst thing that someone can do is to just ignore the situation and not pay the bills. In doing that, you just dig a deeper hole for yourself and end up with a poor credit rating. Hang in there!

Butterfly, It certainly isn't a good feeling when you have to fear every time the mail is delivered or the phone rings. I've been there too many times to count. That's exactly why I am honest enough to say, "Yes, it's nice to meet friends on MyLot, but by golly every little penny helps!" Goddess Blessings ~Donna

Sorry, but you are no where near rock bottom. I hope you don't find it either. It is not a pleasant place to be in. However, looking past the current state of affairs is the way to see things. Focus on the turnaround of your finances and how you can get moving in the other direction. Do not spend your time worring about the condition you are in. Think about finding the solution to fixing it.

I hate it when we get behind on bills. We are so far behind this month, it has been hard for us to. Today makes over 23 days since I have been in any store except gas station. We have not purchased food or anything else but gas. Thank goodness I make my own mixes and have them on hand. I made out checks for the bills and mailed them 3 days before the check was due to be deposited into our account but I could only pay so many bills from each check. So far we have had 2 checks this month and some bills will have to wait yet another month to be paid. We have our phone set to "do not disturb". the machine will still take a message but we cannot hear the phone ring, the machine come on or the message untill we check them. It is great! At least we get to choose the time of hearing the bill collectors.. I hope things get better for you soon. I will be thining of you. Know that you are not the only one in this shape.

We are in credit counseling. We tried to start a business last year so I could work my own convenient hours and it didn't work out so now we are in the hole. It will take five years to be out of it. We went through one of those credit counseling places and so far they have been good. I don't want to lose our house so I am trying to work with the credit card companies as much as possible. MBNA has been the best so far, followed by Citibank. The worst, by far, was Discover. When all is said and done and I will get only one credit card to have in emergencies, it will probably be from MBNA. Usually banks don't want the cars back because it's too much trouble to repo them and re-sell them. They will work with you. Our car payments have one more year but I will need a new one eventually so we will see what happens.

well you are close to rock bottom but at least you still have your car. Just got to get your life in order now before you hit rock bottom i've been there take my advise do whatever you gotta do to avoid hitting rock bottom(when you have NOTHING at all) because it is better to start digging yourself out now while you have a car and things then when you have nothing to assit you in getting back on your feet.

Awesome, I know it's tough, but hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel. My unemployment has run out and I'm seriously sweating February's rent. We make enough money monthly but I mis-budgeted thismonth and we are coming up short. AARRGGHH!!! I understand though when there isn't any place else to turn to get the money. I am staying positive and passing the positive energy to you.

Just keep your head up. I am in the same boat. My husband was in an accident in July and was out of work for three months. We are behind n everything. The car, house, phone, electric, you name it. I have come to the point where it is either laugh or cry and I choose to laugh. The bill collectors are calling 20 times a day so I shut off the phone. If I had the money they would not be calling so they can just stop annoying me. You will get out of it. I just keep telling myself there is someone else out there worse off than I am.

Hello, rock bottom is returnable if you have the right attitude. Everyone at one time or another has face difficult times in their lives. You have to come up with a plan, can you go to your church or a family member to gain help? There are way to prevent things from getting worst just...pray on it.

Yeah unfortunately I also believe that the only way to go up is when you can no longer go any further down. Luckily you dont have to be alone. Use the internet to for any kinds of questions you have and do research on how to handle finances and what not...When I got a speeding ticket a while ago I looked up information on how to beat a traffic ticket and found a ton of info. I ended up paying the fine but the opportunity was there!
