Yesterday I reported 3 abusers and today I went from 10 to 9 reputation. What??

Yeah, I'd say someone probably blasted you with the negative ratings. No worries. You'll be back on top in no time.

Will do. Actually ... it'd probably be better if I STOPPED rockin' for a while. I was up all night again last night. Half of it I spent with the guitar in my hands. No new songs, but a couple really cool chord progressions that I may be able to work into something later on.
Sleep? Ah, who needs it?

I reported an abuser three times and my rating didn't go down. He copied and pasted one of my replies in the SAME discussion if you can believe it. I just reported him every day with the exclamation button until mylot did something. Today they removed his posting.
Actually, I think my rating is going to plummet. I'm about 90 % certain I was negged (twice) for not towing the line in a political discussion. It'll be interesting to see.
Anyway, I don't think the fact that you reported abuse had anything to do with it. It's more likely that a vindictive person decided to have the last say by pushing the negative button.

It makes me wonder how the rating system is set up. One week I was at a 9 and this week I was at an 8. :( I hope to get back up! :) I am trying to be more active on here as well.
It makes me also wonder if we are rated based on us reporting others? I try to catch the cheaters and spammers on here because they annoy me. :)

Sorry to say but now you are a 7. You are shrinking right before my very eyes.
I don't think that your star value is so much the amount of activity you have but more the discussions you start and those you repsond to and how much relevant content you are adding to the discussions.
The more content that is relevant to the topic will help to increase your reputation and that will increase your star rating. I think. :)
I have just started removing friends from my friends list if they don't contribute.

this is what i understood from mylot guidelines.
users with a user rating of less than 100 will not yet have myLot reputation
myLot reputation is determined by the myLot community, not user
It doesn’t mean that 8 stars means “good user” and 5 stars means “bad user” only indicate how active user are
increase your reputation is by contributing quality topics, responses and comments and avoid breaking mylot rules!

I dont know how they would know it was you that reported them, but if you think that's what it was then maybe you shouldnt report people, i have not seen anyone missusing mylot as of yet. What IS an abuser ? not posting in the proper spots or something ? everyone here seems pretty well rounded and behaved, which is odd for a forum i think.

Good day Sissygrl
You are fortunate to have not run into abusers of the myLot system. One of the things abusers do is to post to your discussion with an affiliate link hoping you will join and earn them money. But they don't add anything to your discussion and are really just spammers.

Hi IceQueen
The more I think about it the more I am agreeing with you. It's a pain that someone can just give you a negative rating if the content is good and only an opinion.
People that do that need to say they only want those that agree with them to post.
I worked hard at getting a 10 rating and I just won't answer posts that I have something negative to say. That makes for a bad site when every one just agrees.

What a bummer WM. I report abusers too but haven't noticed my star change colour (yet!). Perhaps as the previous person said it could be a negative rating or two for some petty thing or another that someone might have taken offence to. Hope your star turns blue again very soon! ;)
