Loosely speaking, three kinds of pollution are air pollution, water pollution, and garbage. Chemicals such as CFCs, nitrous oxides, CO2, and water cause the greenhouse effect, a global rise in temperatures that, if left unchecked, will damage ecosystems and cause more violent weather. Pollutants such as N2O and SO2 cause acid rain, which also damages ecosystems. Pollution in modern cities can cause respiratory illness.
