Gangsta Rap! Yay or nay?

some of it certainly promotes self aggrandisement, violence and greed. The main reason that i don't listen to it though is I find it lyrically shallow and musical void.

some can be alright, but im not a chav or gangster i listen to all types of music, but some rap is over the top, but i dont think you can just say it promotes violence

for most it's a way of life. it's how they grew up and it's how their families are living. sure they talk about violence and ignorance but that's what they grew up with. i always listen to it and some of it isn't bad and doesnt speak of violence. i don't think it contributes to violence in the country because this country was violent way before rap came along. rock and other music genre speaks of violence as well.

I agree with you. It's extremely anti-feminist, and gives our children a really negative role model.

Hey ... you know ... i think that no really simple ... Every life write his story and for some people it's so simple to juge other peoples when we don't know what is happening with them ... When the suffering breaks your days ... when the life betrays and wounds you, say me who can say "thank you" ??? When the life is hard for onebody ... the life is so simple for somebody .... Yes Gangsta Rap can promote violence for weak spirits but ... it should be listened to of another ear ... from shade to the light .... Another thing ... IGNORANCE is reserved for those who don't try to understand ....

hhuuuhh. sorry. but i´m loving hip hop music and specially gangsta rap. and i don´t agree with your points. cause i know hundreds of lyrics written by "gangsta´s" which aren´t promoting any violence and ignorance. yes i know many hip hop stars which try it like that but everybody have to read the lyrics first or have to debates with those "gangsta´s" i think it´s a big mirror of every society. and that´s just one way to bring it to society back. What´s about eminem with "white america" or "toysoldiers". please listen to the lyrics. it´s an fantastic mirror of the society of america. in no other genre the artists could play with your heart and your open ear like gangsta rap. I need to say that i´ve hearing other "normal" music, too.
