Canadians in Mexico

Considering the recent deaths of Canadian tourists in mexico how do people feel about going there now? The resort where the Ianeros were killed is the resort that my hubby and I had our 2 week honeymoon at. Beautiful place. But then there have been 2 more deaths, the one is being disputed. Mexican authorities say that he was hit by a car, but his travel companion said he was beaten to death by locals becuase he was dancing with a local woman. The last death was a hit and run. Hubby and I took taxis into town or took guided tours. One of the tour guides told us if we rented a car that it would be at our own risk. Because in Mexico, if there is a car accident both drivers go to jail and the police sort it out later. And he said getting out depends on how much money you have. Scarrrrrrrry.
