I actually work in the Information Technology field as a support engineer. Most of our job has to be done after office hours. When all the user had finished their job, then we'll start ours. Most of the time when people are pretty busy with their work, I don't have much to do. The time I really work is the hours that most people are in their dreams. Sometimes, I got the feeling of being a thief. When people starts to work during the day, usually I'll go to sleep. Its an isolated life and there are quite a lot of problems behind it but I don't think I'll type all that. Anyway, the most depressing part is you can't keep up good relationship with your friends as you don't see them much and properly due to the turndown of many invitations. Its hard to develop any close relationship due to the different "time zone". Anyway, after so many years I'm used to it already. Just want to share some feelings and see if any other people also got in the same situation like me.

hi, I agree with you. I just started my new job assignment in our office as a systems administrator. And i also experienced what your doin now But, monthly/day planner helps me a lot. I have to go to office as early as 7:30am just to do my other duties as an administrator.I have to take note all the things that should be done within a day, and it works. All you have to do is have a time frame for everything, you have to learn to set time for your work and personal activities. Try to make some changes to your schedule, instead of going to office late, why not try going to office earlier, so that you can do some of your work duties as a support engineer on your company.

That's one way to make it better I guess and I'm trying to have a better time management. Hopes everything go fine and good luck with you new assignment, too.

Hi! I completely agree! I used to have a job with rotating schedules and working in the middle of the night does nothing to further your social life! People are somewhat afraid of people in this occupation in general, so the only other people I was friends with were also associated with this job. I don't want to state what it was for my own privacy - hope you understand :-) Certain jobs do cause isolation. I hope find some friends you can chat with here on Mylot! :-)
