when I was young I lived in a small mining village ( in Scotland) I am a pensioner now and would be first to say there have been some great inventions and It is nice not to see women tied to the house 24 hours a day cleaning . I look back though and think how nice it was not to have to lock your front door . to play in the fields and swing on a rope over the stream and be able to play outside for hours and not have to worry about our safety as you all knew each others familys. we played with prams and dolls and rode in the country roads on out bicycles. children sem to grow up so quickly now . What do you think ?

I agree that times certainly have changed! Even when I was young we lived in a small house where we didn't even have a key to our front door! We only had the type of lock on the door that you turn from the inside. Seems so crazy to think about now.
Now the house where I live has a security alarm system with motion sensors that automatically call the police if the correct code is not entered upon openning a door or window in our home.

In many places it's just so much safer to keep your children inside. That's really sad for kids today. I used to be outside everyday playing in the woods with my dog tagging along. My children DO go outside to play but I make them take a walkie-talkie along so that I can check in with them often. When I was a kid though I used to go out for the day to play and not come back home for hours. I could go anywhere I wanted in our neighborhood. It was so different and such a different feeling of freedom than we can have in society today.

Yeah time have really changed from when we were young. Its amazing how the whole world now relies on robots and PC's to do everything. those days kids used to gout to play now , all they do is stay on the internet all day or in front of the Television, with a video game.

I was born into a modest family, My dad, was the Chief engineer, on a research institue, and we ,grew up on the Planatation. it was fun growing up, in tune with nature, i could out and climb trees, go hunting ,hike into the forest for miles, and even go fishing. We had a small patch, behind the house, where we grew our own food and vegetables sometimes. Although i went to the best schools, in the state it was always fun coming home, to this rustic setting. Now i'm 30 and a big city guy. Its amazing how i look fondly towards those memories. We never needed to lock our doors aswell "LOL". anyone with similar stories.

That's pretty interesting that you grewup somewhere really far from where I grewup (Richmond, Virginia, USA) but yet had a similar experience. See my post below about playing in the woods, etc.

Aaah the innocent, happy days! My nan and my older relatives used to tell me as a child about people leaving their doors wide open and friends and neighbours coming in for chats and tea! Children were allowed out to play in the streets and go off together without fear. You could walk the streets at night without worrying or fearing for your life. Those were the days indeed, now it's like we are living in another world, it's horrible and it's getting worse. The worst thing is, that we will never return to those days, so sad how humans have changed and that all we think about now is war, greed and violence.

Every good thing has a cosnsequence as well. Safety has become an issue, earlier it was not, My parents never went to see me to the school but now every other parent is doing that dute to child's safety. Now children are busy seeing cartoons which we never saw. We used to read comic books for which children have no time it seems.

Time runs so fast. Too bad we can't get back to our younger days. But were so lucky that our childhood moments are fun and worth remembering. We people as we get older we seemed to have more responsibilities and more aware of our future unlike children/kids that all they know is to have this day and make it so beautiful and enjoyable that's why there an image of happiness and fun.

Times have not changed. But people are.
Time remains same, but the people of current generation changed. This is due to advance in technology, science etc. People are now very close, can communicate well. That made so many changes across the world :)
