Putting my twins in separate bedrooms

My twins (boy/girl) will turn 3 in April. They have shared a bedroom since birth, but I know at some point they will need their own space and privacy. They are so attached to eachother, and I even have a hard time separating them to take one to the doctor by themselves. I think it is too early to separate them but have been getting some "friendly and family advice" that I should separate them now. Has anybody been through a similar situation. I would love to hear what you've done.

I will be having to make the same decision soon. My twins are just 2 and very attached to each other. They have an older brother who is 3 and we know that eventually we will put the 2 boys in one room and then our daughter will have her own room. Im just not sure how they will handle sleeping in separate rooms once that happens! Good luck!
