I've seen Ringu, Ringu 0 and Ringu 2 so far. They've hinted at Sadako's father not being human throughout the films I've seen but do they ever actually say who he was in the other film or in the book (if anyone has read it)?

It isn't stated in the first book. In reading it, though, I discovered that there are two sequels: 'Spiral' and Loop'. Maybe it's covered in one of them.
As before, I'll update if I find out more before anyone else posts the answer here.

Okay, so I'm done with 'Spiral'. I'm going to try not to give away too many spoilers; but as with 'Ring', there was no direct statement that Sadako's father wasn't human. If anything, one passage seemed to very strongly suggest that the father really IS human. There is still 'Loop' for me to read, though, and there is also a book called 'Birthday' that is a sequel to the other ones. So, my quest for knowledge continues..... It's FAR too early in the game for me to completely rule out the whole 'half-human' possibility.

Almost dne with 'Loop'....
The question of who Sadako's father is actually far, far more complex than the movies might give you to think. From one perspective, she has absolutely no father. On the other hand, it looks like there is one more book in the series which explores things from a slightly different, but possibly equally valid, point of view....in one sense, she may have a biological father of some sort or have been siredby a supernatural entity. I'm not sure yet, as I still have to get my hands on that last book.

I just started reading the book. If no one answers this before me, I will do so when I know the answer. I know it was told to me by one or to people that in the book, her father was either implied or directly stated to have been some kind of water demon. The movies, from what I hear, had a lot of continuity errors. I've only seen the first one, so I can't say anything other than it seemed like the married guy who was holding the psychic demonstrations with Sadako's mother was the father.
But like I said, I'll let you know when I find out....provided that nobody beats me to it.
