I have noticed a few Buffy fans out there and I wanted to let you know that the creator Joss Whedon is going to release the rest of the story in comic book form. Please don't confuse this will all the other Buffy related comics out there (Which there are many of) This one is either written by or officially authorized by Joss (sorry I can't recall which) and picks up a year later. I had the chance to get a sneak peek at the first couple pages of the first one, and it looks fantastic. There is even an explanation for something that happens in an episode of Angel (Concerning Buffy.) I can't wait to see what happens! Does anyone have any guesses as to where they will go with the story from there? I would love to hear what people have to say!

I loved Buffy when they had it on T.V. My son and I used to sit down and watch it every night and I was so disgusted when they finally took the show off the air and only put up repeats . I liked Angel to but not as much as Buffy . I didn't know they had any commic books out there . I have come across a couple of book but they were all made to attract a much younger age group . I will have to check this out at my library to see if they have anything like that there yet . Sounds interesting .

You probably won't find it at the library for a while, it hasn't even been released yet. The preview I saw online. If you are interested in checking it out, your best best is to check in with your local comic shop, or wait a looooong time for the library to get it.

Update: I found the article I read in TV Guide online, it's a really great interview with Joss Whedon and you can get a sneak peak of the first four pages of the first comic book! Check it out! http://tvguide.com/News-Views/Interviews-Features/Article/default.aspx?posting=%7b0c084F89-5673-43B9-9FFC-022578DAA927%7D

There have been several Buffy/Angel comic books out, some of them were ongoing series and some were "one-shots" (one large-size issue) or mini-series (ongoing series with usually 3-6 issues telling a complete story). A lot of them have been collected into "graphic novels" and you can find them on Amazon.com, at better comic shops, and some book stores. The best of the Buffy stuff is late in the run of her first ongoing series. It went back and told her story from before Sunnydale starting with a retelling of the movie story, her adventures with Pike, her time in an institution, and the breakup of her parents. Really great stuff! Very mature, in the good sense of the term.
Those are collected in graphic novels named: "Origin," "Viva Las Buffy," "Slayer, Interrupted," and "A Stake to the Heart." I highly recommend them all.
The new series may start showing up on Amazon and in libraries, but first they'll have to put out several issues (at one a month) and then collect them and publish them as "graphic novels" or "trade paperbacks." So maybe 6 or 7 months of comics, then enough time to publish the TPB, then someone will have to either order it for the library or donate it there. You can, of course, always request that your library order it. You never know, it might help.

I've been tracking the news about this for a long time, and I am super excited. You say you aren't sure whether it's written by Joss or just officially authorized... well the answer is "both." Joss will be writing the first four or five issues and then will turn it over to other writers (though now that he isn't doing Wonder Woman, maybe he'll have enough time to do more). The other writers who will be working on the series are a combination of superstar comic book writers and writers from the Buffy TV show. In fact, almost everyone who ever wrote more than one episode of the series is going to be working on the comic.
This book is going to be so official, that Joss has been referring to it as "Season 8."
I'm already in line. :D

I hadn't even started thinking about the benefits of Joss not doing Wonder Woman anymore, wow I really hope he ends up writing more then! Of coarse I do trust implicitly anything that his writers will do. If Joss trusts 'em I trust 'em! Especially since they were Buffy writers in the first place. Huzzah for "Season 8" of Buffy!
