TV-Watching Habits: Live or DVR?

With TiVo becoming so popular, and many cable and satellite TV providers now providing DVR units (Digital Video Recorder) with your service, do you find you still wtch most shows live, or do you record them and watch at your leisure?
In my family, it seems to depend on the type of programming...For sporting events, we try to watch them live. But with our favorite TV shows, especially since we try to spend as much time as possible with our daughter after work before she goes to bed, we tend to watch most of our favorite shows on the DVR...This works well because we can skip past the commercials, and watch a 1-hour show such as CSI in about 40 mnutes.
However, the downside is, sometimes we don't have time to watch the shows in a timely manner...For instance, I'm about thirteen weeks behind on CSI, but have all of them saved...Just waiting for a free weekend when my wife and I can sit down and watch away and catch up. However, I do know people who DVR the entire season of a show and then watch the whole season in a weekend after the season finale has already aired.

We are much more of a TIVO DVR family. For the sme reasons. We want to spend time with our two toddlers and also becuase they do not need to see some of the things on those shows like CSI and Cold Case. We usually have over 50 hours of programming at any given time and it sre cuts down on commercials. I dont know that we could live with out our DVR although I think we watch more TV with it than without it.

Oh yeah...We definitely watch more, especially since the unit Comcast gave us will let us record two channels at one time. It's especially great if we're out of town and won't have access to a TV to watch our favorite shows; we can record them and watch when we get home.

It is extrememly useful for us since we have medically fragile children and are often in the hospital. It also give us a very much needed break.
