About a 1 1/2 years ago, I made the change and bought an Apple, when I did a price comparision feature for feature, I found the price to be similar and now Apples are actually priced cheaper then Dells. Those $300-600 deals on Windows machines will soon end as Vista ships. We have all heard Microsoft playing the trumpets about Vista and then heard and read reviews and it doesn't sound like it is all it is cracked up to be www.technologyreview.com/infotech/17992/page1 So, how many people will seriously look at Apple when they go to buy their next computer?

I've never had an Apple, don't even see them sold in my area. I know very little about them actually. I do know that some of the programs they make for windows will not work on Apple, one such program is the one I have to use for my most important and best paying online work. It is java and interface and if you have an Apple you can't run the program. So maybe windows is best for now.

You are right, there are no Apple stores at this point in Mississippi. But some day there will be, they are growing and actually coming up on the 3rd place computer manufacturer in the world. They can now run windows. So in the future you may want to consider. I am quite technical and do work onmost peoples computers, but I love their support anyhow, it makes me feel secire to know that they are there for me

How can you say they are way too expensive, when compared to Dells, they are coming in at a lower price for the same features. Games, I don't worry about, I am not a gamer.

Seriously - consider Apple. I am thrilled with mine, I go for the refurbished. My son just got one, he saved about $300, and he loves it, he said 3 guys in his office are considering them. He is in the Navy, they just did a thing on viruses and everyone had to bring in their personal computers and the Navy installed software. My kid comes in and the guy yelled, hey, the if only everyone else would figure out that Apple is the way to go. All of the Windows security experts that came to his office had bought Apples in the past year, one said they are scared to see the holes that hackers will find in Vista in the next 6 months and recommended people not not buy computers with Vista until they were told otherwise. I love my Mac, it is old and doesn't have the new toys, but it is better then any Windows machine.
