If you see a sign either in the hospital or fuel station that says turn off the mobile phone, do you follow it or disregard this sign?

If I'm at the hospital I will turn off the phone because I don't want to take the risk of affecting any life giving equipment, although I don't know of any report in existance that confirms that it would affect anything. In the fuel station I wouldn't switch it off as there is no danger caused with it being switched on, as far as I'm aware. As to actually using it on a fuel station I'm not too sure, it only needs a small electrical spark and it could be devastating. The only other place I would switch it off would be on an aircraft, although I know of people who ignore this rule and put the lives of hundreds in jeopardy (similar situation to hospital with the possibility of it affecting sensitive equipment).

if it is on it is transmitting and it can cause problems you should always power it off in bad situations it can cause problems if it is powered on.

Thats right , there are too many important equipment in the hospital that is connected to the lives of other people and we need not to take the risk of switching on our phones in those area. I also saw somebody in an aircraft where this woman is so stupid that she just cant stop texting even though we are advised to switch off the phone. There are really inconsiderable people that dont bother whether they put the lives of other people in danger.

Yes most times if I see a sign requesting this I will turn my mobile off, especially in a hospital as I know it can affect equipment, but I have not noticed it in a fuel station so maybe next time I fill up I will see if there is one. If so I have never noticed it.

Yes, when i was in the Philippines the fuel station got this warning sign of switching off the phone. Yes we really need to ensure that we switch off our phones when we're in the hospital. Thanks for dropping by.

At the hospitals i will sure follow the rules. Coming to fuel stations that depends on the situation i am in. If i am in an important call and i am supposed to switch off the mobile before getting into the fuel station i would ask some one to drive in a get the fuel filled and i will get down. Other than mobiles i don't lit fire at the hospitals or fuel stations what ever mood i am in. Most of the places i follow the rules unless if i have something going in my mind.

I do. When ever i go to see a doctor, i turn off the phone. When ever i am in a seminar or discussion or meeting, i turn off the phone. Its a kind of a respect. Imagine someone talking over the phone (which a lot of people do now adays) in the middle of a seminar or a meeting. Everybody else would look at him as if he is disturbing the environment which in fact what he is doing. I personally think we have to obey these small things, which shows our good habits.

No, i do not follow rules. Whenever i see a sign at a hospital or gas station that says turn off cell phones. Thats the last thing im worried about at that time probly. If i am worried about it i just turn it on silent and everything is fine. Other rules i barely follow unless it has to do with someones life or something around that perspective.

Yeah, I do that pretty much all the time. It's pretty inconsiderate, not to mention risky when other equipment is involved, if you leave your cell phone on merely for convenience's sake.
