Have you ever had a close encounter with a shark, or any other animal? Well, I was reading a news story about this diver who was apparently partially _swallowed_ by a shark, but he managed to fight his way out and is alive! In fact, all that he suffered was a broken nose, cuts, and some bruising. Can you believe it? I had not previously heard of someone escaping from a shark attack in this way.
So, feel free to share your shark stories, or stories of other scary animal encounters. Or just let me know what you think of this amazing story! ^_^

Well, living on a fresh lake I'm happy to say I've never encountered a shark! LOL Closest I have ever come to a 'hallowing experience' is when I was a kid, camping in a state park we had a bear come up to get in our trash can just outside the door. The hilarious part was, the bear took off because a skunk came out to the can too! LOL Just goes to show you that smell is often worse than growl!

Even the big bears are scared of a little stinky thing.

LOL!!!!! The bear might not have been afraid of humans, but it sure didn't want that smelly skunk anywhere near it! What a great story! ^_^ And I loved your quote 'it just goes to show you that smell is often worse than growl' - lol, that's great! That's like a new version of 'his bark is worse than his bite'! *laugh* ^_^

That was a crazy story, i also had an encounter with a shark two summers ago when a shark came and swam around our boat for about an hour. I may be making this sound a little more exciting than it actually was. It was a basking shark which eats nothing but seaweed so the risk to my life was minimal, but it was a big shark, about 20 feet long. Howevber as i live in the most boring country in the world the most dangerous animal we have is the cat, and they are pure evil!

Well, it sounds like a pretty exciting story to me! I've only been in a fishing boat once or twice, and on a ferry once, so I've never even been near a non-lethal shark! To me, your story is more exciting than a lot of things I can think of! *laugh* And I appreciate you sharing it! ^_^

Holy cow!!! I mean shark...no, that's not right because the shark didn't get to eat his lunch. ok....WOW! That is awesome!
OK, so his torso was saved by the lead-weight vest. But can you imagine if that shark had not bitten off nore than he could chew??? That vest was not protecting his head!
Wow! And people wonder why I am scared of the deep blue sea and refuse to go on a boat. A little boat...in a lot of water...with a lot of fish and sharks! Umm, no, I would rather keep my feet on land or in a pool if I want to swim! Thanks!
Way to go for that guy!!! Someone was watching out for him!

I dont even swim. I am afraid of water. Can you imagine the fear you would feel while inside a shark? I would die of a heart attack before the shark killed me. This is truely a miracle

Wow, he really was blessed to escape that one, wasn't he!?
I personally have never had a shark attack, but I did hear on the news something (or I may have read this one on my news of the weird subscription - - nevertheless, it was on one of the news channels I get & it's been a few years ago) about a young guy who a shark got ahold of him & refused to let go, had him by his side, & they had to load him in the ambulance just that way, shark attached & ALL. Wow. I could not imagine, could you? This boy was about 16 years old & was surfing. The shark was about 6 foot.
As for me, I NEVER want to meet one of those terrifying creatures!

My encounter with an animal is trivial when comparing with the news story in your entry. When I was small, I happened to visit a village for the first time in my homeland and some dogs barked fiercely at me and they came so close to me that I could smell their breath. I was frightened at that moment, but they didn't attack me. I think the victim in your entry is lucky. Maybe movie directors should consider adapting the report into a desaster film. It may attract a lot of viewers and hit the box office with an impressive figure.

yep, me, too. i might die losing hope if that happened to me. sharks are scary creatures especially when they are hungry. but i am happy that the diver was able to survive.

I think I read this story, but I'm not quite sure. I'll have to check it out sometime. But I don't know how to swim, so thankfully lol I probably wont have any close encounters with sharks lol. At least I hope not. I think my only animal encounter was with two dogs. It was pretty scary as they were not friendly dogs. They broke the fence down and came after me and my mom and my uncle's wife. And I was pregnant at the time too. But luckily they got scared before they could do anything.

Occurrences like this are common in Autralia as the Coastal Reef there extends to the oceanshore. You should have read the more shocking story of a man who was just standing at the coral reefs, when all of a sudden a shark jumped up to him, struck his legs and went down back to the ocean with one of the man's legs!
My mom love to have a number of sows and some pigs for fattening as a source of additional income. When one black sow was giving birth, she got close enough to assist the sow. Would you believe the sow attacked her fiercefully? What kept her alive was she warded off the sow with her bare hands and raw strength. Now, she has a thumb which was almost cut and eaten by the sow to remind her of the experience at all times.

that's so scary. that is like my worst fear! I have heard other stories but none as good as that one. My moms friend was swimming near a coral reef and a shark swam up to her and circled her and was getting closer and closer. All she remembers seeing in her panic was the sharks little black eye on her. She quickly swam toward a reef and started climbing on to it just as the shark bumped her, apparently sharks will bump you right before they take a bite out of you.

I seen this on the news and that is simply amazing and talking about keeping your cool under pressure :)
I haven't had anything like that but i have had a 6ft shark decide to bump my 10ft boat out on the water and that was scary enough for me to pull up anchor and move away nice and fast :)
