Wet or Dry Cat Food?

My cat gets wet food for breakfast, then dry food for lunch and dinner. But once he gets older, I'm only going to give him dry food.

I give my cats dry food. Once in awhile I will give them wet food for a treat of having someything different. with the dry food they can whenever they choose. With the wet food, you have to open a can so the cat eats when you feed him the food, if he just does not feel like eating the wet food sits and gets yucky and than thrown away.

From what I have heard, dry food can be fattening for cats and is better when used as a treat, if used at all. I think it would be nice for variety's sake, as well, but if dry food is easier to get and you know your cat will eat it, then I'd say stick to that unless perhaps some health issue comes up. It is a lot easier to feed cats pills in wet food! _

I think dry food is better for kittens. Dry food offered by notable suppliers provides suffiecent nutrition which is beneficial to the growth and devedlopment of cats. Fat for energy, fatty acids, etc are also comprized in the ingredient. I did feed my kitten with wet food once months ago and she felt sick. So I stopped giving her wet food very soon.

My cat is a free eater - meaning her bowl always has dry cat food in it. If it runs empty, I refill it. She eats when she is hungry and stops when she's full. Just because I put food out does not mean she will eat it all in one sitting. She also gets wet food but not all the time. I never wanted her to expect it because then she would cry for it all the time. So maybe once a week or once every two weeks I will surprise her with wet food. She loves it, of course, and has never gotten sick from it. She doesn't eat the wet food all in one sitting either - it will take two feedings for her to finish it.

Dry food is much better for their teeth they say. The only really important issue is the quality of food. Any brand with by products and dyes are not good, even if they are popular leading brands. Royal cannie is an excellent food. Read the ing. next time you are in the store and you will see a big difference. Petsmart's own cat brand is Excellent!!!

I have heard that dreid food is better for them., Although I used to give my cat both. He had a bowl of dry food where he could go and have a bite when he wanted to, and then he would also get wetfood. When he got wetfood, he used to finish it sraight away so i am guessing that he liked it better.. Oh I wish I had a cat - Darn allergies =)

My cats (spoiled, as they are) prefer both, I keep dry food in a bowl that is always full and I give them wet food several times a day, my cats are extremely healthy and so far the vet has not advised me that this is harmful for them, so I continue

I only feed my cat dry food as she doesn't like wet much. She will eat one kind only and thats the sheba in yellow! she's so picky!

I feed my cat both. I do not give just soft because it will make their teeth soft and will make them fall out. So I give them hard food with a can of soft mixed in. Then I add a little bit of warm water in the winter to keep their belly warm.

We have two kittens we got from the same litter, brother and sister. One will only eat dry food and the other will only eat canned. So in my case, it's whatever they eat! If I run out of dry, that cat will climb into the Kibbles -n- Bits bag and start chewing on dog food before he will eat something out of the can. The other doesn't eat the dry if it's out and there's no canned around.

Your cats will love you if you give them wet cat food. I started my cats on dry cat food but they started to get tired of it so now I mix it. The stinkier the cat food is the more my cats flip. I didn't want to spend so much on their food so I mix a few tablespoon of wet cat food to a handful of dry. Just enough to coat the dry cat food. It's more economical that way and it's guaranteed that they will eat all of the dry ones.
