I always treasure any kind of gift even if I don't like it.. I think you're more disturbed by the fact that the present is expensive rather than that you don't really like it? Just say thank you and that you really appreciate the gift - you don't have to mention whether you like it or not unless she ask you.. just said 'it's not my style, but I really appreciate it' or something like that

You should be thankful that your friend gave you a gift on your birthday. It's the thought that counts and not that you liked or disliked the gift.
