Are the extra troops really going to make a difference in Iraq?

It will make very little difference in this conflict. I say this because these aren't new troops that they are sending. Their plan is to extend out tours for troops already there, for over a year already as is, and to send back troops who have recently returned. All this is going to do is stress out our troops. They already know this is a futile effort.

I am married to a wonderful man in the military, and we have lived and raised our family in this lifestyle for over 18 years.
I am well aware that this is not about oil and that many key players in this present administration had conflicts of interest when they were chosen to be part of it--their hidden agenda so to speak.
All one has to do is look at the Statement of Principles outlined on the PNAC website, and note the key players who have subscribed to this ideology and agenda way before they were put into key positions in this administration.

I just wish more and more Americans would realize that our troops do not sign up ever thinking that their Commander in Chief will ever abuse his rights and privileges to engage our troops in war and conflict. All you hear is, "Oh, they signed up so they can't complain." Sure, they sign up, but they sign up thinking that the American people will protect them from being abused and misused in unjust circumstances, by holding the President and his administration responsible and accountable.

Hallelujah. Perfectly said. Unfortunately
our troops have to suffer for these war
mongers. Something else that bothers me
is when Bush says we don't support our
troops if we don't support his plans.
He couldn't be further from the truth.
I believe every American supports the
troops but ever increasingly don't support
him.
I, myself, never supported his invasion of
Iraq but I'd knock his teeth out if he was
standing in front of me and told me I don't
support our troops.
My greatest fear right now is that he's using
the deployment of the 20,000+ extra troops as
a smoke screen. I don't believe they're job
is going to be to support the Iraqi military
and police. I believe they, unbeknown to them,
are there so when he's ready to announce an
invasion of Iran they're already in place.

You said a mouthful. Like you said, it's futile.
Of course they know it but don't give a damn
about the citizens they are meant to represent.
When I say that, I'm not even referring to the
Congress. I am, however, talking about Bush and
his inner circle, who all have their hidden agenda
for wanting to remain there and continue this fiasco.
Believe it or not. It really isn't about oil. That's
just a bonus. There are other reasons. Think about it
for a while and you'll see these reasons.

Personally, my idea is, war is the game for those who love to fight, to rob, to slaughter. This is also a very expensive expenditure. You spend billions of dollars to make the weapons and build up arm forces and in the end they explode and become nothing. They are used to destroy others. Though I know not much about politics and Bush's mind, I just reckon he is too pushy on starting new actions in Middle East.

You hit the nail on the head. What's even worse
is that the leaders of my country are no better
than the school yard bullies that pick on the
little ones. That's about the extent of Bush's
and his administration's collective mind set.

Definitely but little bit of time will take to ambush the terrorism. the time has come now that local terror in iraq under fullstop, the out side pressure for terrorist only persists . So definitely the extra force will make the iraq conflict to end in next five to six months.

We'll just have to wait and see. I believe there
won't be much change. At least for the better.

Bush seems to be just interested in winning the people's heart in everything he does in order to build for himself a good name in the world history. Unfortunately, he just can't make it that way, sacrificing the lives of innocents for the sake of it. How selfish!!!

He's as selfish as they come. This man has no
regard for what the people of the U.S. are
feeling and trying in vain to make him realize.
We can't stand him or his policies. The man has
no conscious!

It most certainly is. If things get much
more out of hand, there's no telling who's
going to be affected by our tyrant president.
Maybe even Pakistan?

No good can come from an increase of troops in the region. The more we send and the longer we are there the more enemies we create. Our role of "liberating" Iraq has been completed staying longer just makes it look like the the US is bent on becoming an a permanent fixture in Iraq.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! That's
the best way to put the problem in the
simplest words possible. Right to the point.

It will make the situation so much worst. It will create another trouble and fears to all the people in the country even in the neighboring countries and also in US. It will still be the same war, killings, and everything worst and st*pid thing. It will still gonna happen.

Thank you! I'll go one step further
and say it will only create more U.S.
targets to shoot at.
My belief is Bush is sending these extra
troops as a smoke screen because he's
really planning on invading Iran in the
near future. Which would be a grave mistake.
