As I read the posts of people like thinkingoutloud,gardengerty,pollyandry,cormcl,kqwat70,misskatatonic,ellusivebutterfly, and too many others to mention, I realize there are some people here who can really write.
When I started posting and reading here I did not expect to be exposed to such good writing. Nor did I expect that I would be able to learn from it, but slowly I am. Posting at myLot is slowly improving my writing. Thank-you all.
Who else thinks their writing skill is improving while posting at myLot?

There are good writers and there are bad ones here in MyLot--most of them not adept with the English language. Nevertheless, this shouldn't discourage them from posting because MyLot is good practice :)

Sure, improving one's English while also working on one's writing is a perfect situation. I for one always just assume some of the poorly understood writing is that of someone writing in their second or third language. I do not belittle them for this. I have no second language at all. The posters who have English as a second language are smarter than I, who has no second language.

i did realized this yes.
having uber cool language does not make one a good writer as well. language does give you the potential writing abilities, but one still has to work at them.
some people on this forum have sweet formatting.
i for one am trying to copy.
but im also a little lazy (hence the lack of capitals, and nothing more than commas and fullstops) that's why my posts still look like what they look.
but i AM learning, am observant, will present a suitable format soon enough.
these people are good, i bow in acknowledgement.^^
they keep a certain 'bar' for people to stay around.
otherwise posts would probably be everywhere. in that all over the place sense.
you know the ones.

Yes, I bow and take my hat off to a goodly number of the writers here, too.
In fact, I think I have only discovered a small fraction of them. This makes each day interesting.

My writing has also improved as long as spelling. I think that it helps that we are doing more of it and that we are learning to go back and read what we have typed. I personally get to typing so fast that I just forget tho hit the space bar or add a comma so my words would run together.

Reading you post, I realized another skill I'm developing. The ability to recognize good writing. That's only 4 lines you've just written but it flows so smoothly it is easy to read.
Before I started posting here, I lost the ability to spot good writing from only a small sample.
Spelling? Let's not talk about spelling, yet.

I think you are, also, as I recognize the cute kitty.
It actually is a learning site in other ways. I'm starting to pick up some applied psychology among other things.

Oh, most definitely! My writing skill is improving all the time, although I would like to think that I've had a fair skill in writing due to the fact that I learned a great love of language through being an avid reader when I was much younger. ^_^ And if nothing else, my typing speed is definitely improving via the fact that I am typing so many repsonses and starting topics here at Mylot every day! ^_^
I am definitely getting better at thinking up how to word new topics, I'll tell you that. *laugh* At first I was pretty shy about it, although writing responses seemed easy. But now I'm really enjoying starting topics as well as responding, and I think that it's getting easier for me to think of good ways to word my topics day by day, the more that I do it and the more that I look around at some of the great examples on here! ^_^

Well, one of the really neat things here is that you can practice your writing all you want. Then on top of that, it not only costs nothing, they even pay you a little. What a deal!

Yeah I joined here mainly because I need to improve my writing skills... I want to write articles for others in the near future, but am not good enough.
MyLoy helps a lot in this. I can write as much as I can, it is fun AND I get paid for it!
