OK, so I watched this on TV expecting to laugh myself silly and have an absolute gut ache. As much as I have gotten tired of Bush's approach to stuff, every once in a great while, he manages to actually impress me. So here I tune in thinking I get to watch a long version of The President's Funniest Home Videos, and instead I come away about half impressed. Unfortunately, I didn't witness anything I could take him to task for. Did anyone else watch this? Does anyone else have a comment?

No I figured since he just knew he was such a hit with the country by stating he was sending more troops over seas, the idiot thought he tell us again. Therefore, I did not bother. Besides, it kills me to watch him mutilate the English language.

Well I'm a bush supporter, and do realize that he has taken a bashing in the polls lately. I am happy to see he did such a wonderful job yesterday articulating what he was trying to say. I must admit there have been times I wasn't quite sure what he was saying, but he did a tremendous job last night! (my opinion)

I saw a dissection on the news this morning of his address--the health care thing is basically saying the avg. worker will get a tax credit. What that translate to is 'we need to use this money to fund the iraq war some more and buy some overpriced microwaves.' Also--there were X number of new jobs created and unemployment down...excuse me, but are they for a living wage? We've got highly educated people flipping burgers in the US! I was half impressed with what he said this address about immigration (we need to find a legal way for people to work here with a visa), but as for saying 'no new taxes' and 'we're going to save social security' and 'cut the deficit in half by 2009' made me stop and think...hey, how is all this stuff going to happen without additional income (taxes)? And what happened to the aftermath of Katrina? His new speechwriter is much better at disguising the same old crap.

I was only impressed that his tripping over his own tounge was kept to a minimum. Otherwise, it was what I expected, more pushing for Iraq. He didn't give nearly enough attention to what is really concerning the country. Global warming, healthcare, the budget, everything he had to say about those issues were vague, with no real plan and he barely spent any time on them at all! Now the democratic response? That was what impressed me. Jim Webb had me applausing at every pause, in my own living room! I found out today, he wrote that speech himself, and that makes me respect him even more. It gives me much hope for the future.
