What do you think? Hogwarts only goes up to year 7 and you graduate. Do you think J.K. Rowling will end the Harry Potter series with book 7? or will there be a book 8 about what happens when Harry goes out of Hogwarts? Or will it be another series about Harry, but in another form, not with his adventures and/or misadventures at his magical school

I don't think the end will be in the 7 book... in the J.K Website has a coment like that "At the end of the book seven, harry and Voldemort wil 'merge' to form a single persona who will command both the forces of good and evil"
Welll.. I Think it's on the last chapter at the book.. the action usually be at the book's end.

I don't think the it will end in the 7th book. Well Voldemort will be over powered or something like that JK is unlikely to kill her cash cow. To my opinion there will be a book 8,9..... and so on. She is saying all this to keep suspense and the hype. And pardon my ignorance I never read a book or never seen a movie where evil permanently triumph over good.

I think if you read the webiste correctly that comment about Harry and Voldemort 'merging' was just a rumour, and JK has denied that it is true

Even if JK does do as she has said, and end the Series with book 7, there are still many options out there. A series about the Weasley twins, or other characters we have grown to love. A series of how things are outside of school, as adults. Or even a new series about a whole new charachter entering hogwarts or the other magickal schools. I guess only time and JK can really answer this.

Hmmm.. I like your idea.. Hmm.. I hope JKR gets reads this discussion and know that a lot of people will be sad if she does end harry at book 7.
Hmmm..from the start JKR have tagged Neville as someone who will become of importance somehow to the life/lives of the people of the magical world and she has connected and intertwined the lives of Neville and Harry, so I do believe it when you say that Neville will definitely play a part in the demise of the dark lord and of the Harry Potter series. :P

I think it would be better for HP to end at book 7 than extend it

Would it really be better? I think most HP fans will want it to continue, like me.. I would like to know how Harry turns out when he ventures into the adult/outside world. Will he still make blunders..Will he still go out and look for trouble ^_^ Will Ron be the eternal side kick? In a love plot, who would he eventually marry? Cho Chang? Ginny? Or someone else entirely, maybe even a muggle...
I know it's also wise to quit while you're ahead.. all that stuff. but I think HP fans expects more from JKR, rather than the end of Harry at book 7

i think harry potter willl ended in book 7, but maybe (i hope) there will be other book about other character in harry potter series.. (maybe fred and george weasley?!) or a prequel of harry potter (about sirius, james, lupin, and peter in hogwart) would be nice.. hehe..

yeah, my husband said exactly the same thing, that maybe JKR will do a George Lucas with Star Wars and do another series involving Harry's parents and their friends, and how Lord Voldemort actually came about. That would definitely be nice and I'm pretty sure it will be a hit, just like the Harry Potter series, what do you think it will be called if she ever does that???

I hope there will be more than 7 books in the series. It would be a waste for her to stop at the 7th book since she's getting so much money from the books and the movies. She should really continue the series. People are counting on her for more magical adventures of Harry Potter.

I think she will stick to her original plan and only write the 7 books, if she didn't finish it somewhere then she would be writing about Harry for the rest of her life. Even if she did write a few more books, there would still be people wanting more and unhappy and something

JK Rowling has been very clear about this coming book being the last of the Harry Potter series. She wants very much to continue writing, but wants to write something different, which I certainly can't blame her for. I do hope that one day she will pick up the pen again and maybe visit Harry later in life. I think Hermione and Ron will end up married with a whole passel of curly red haired children!

I think it will be the last. At least, that's what I've read from JKR's comments. It would be nice, though, if it was continued, but I think she wants to end it while it's still on top.

Again, I hope not :)
Hmmm..I believe in what rhood2019 said, that maybe, just maybe, she's just saying that to keep the hype of the book. Coz there are so many Potter fans who would want or even expect for more of the book to be released. Something like the Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys series, which reached hundreds of books

Does harry not skip his final year after dumbledore is killed and set of on a hunt for the horcruxes?

Yes, that was his plan...But the book is basically based on his every year at Hogwarts, so it's logical to think that book 7 will be his 7th year at Hogwarts.
Even though he plans (as the book has not been released yet) to skip his 7th year, I do believe that Hogwarts as a whole will still be involved even if he wouldn't be attending classes there....We'll see how it goes when the book finally gets released..ooohhhh, i can't wait....

Yes, I'm sure it will. I think JK Rowling has probably made all the money she needs to make and is probably exhausted with the continued pressure of putting out these books. All stories have to have some kind of end, and I'll bet she is ready for Harry Potter's story to be over.

I'm pretty sure that the seventh book is going to be the last one because that has been her plan all along. She said something along time ago about doing only 7 but there will also be some kind of recap type book.

I guess like all school adventures, the series comes to an end with the main characters grow up and pass out. I think it will be the same with Harry POtter. If you have read Enid Blyton Books you will see the trend. But lets hope JK Rowlings decides to write on the adult life of Harry POtter.
