i've seen some of them in the past. people had truly loved it. does this signify cultural invasion? what elements found in asian films and television shows distinguish them from western ones?

I love koreanovelas. if you're going to compare it w/ the mexican telenovelas, I would much appreciate it. It's shorter, 1 novela would take around 2-3 months only. The story, even though most are very light, is fix, meaning writers wouldn't put "add'l" story or twist to the story even if it's popular. The characters are really cute & lovable.
It's nice to watch series that would make you think that deep or would make you cry that hard. The story is very "fast paced" that you'll miss a lot if you'll miss 1 episode unlike Filipino telenovelas, that even if you don't watch it for 2 weeks you wouldn't feel that you miss anything.
No offense ment to Filipino telenovelas...
It's just that I don't want to watch a story that takes 1-2 years. That unrealistic twist are added just to prolong the show. Also, the story become different in the end just because something happened along the way...

good insights. but isn't that mexican telenovelas were "hit" then because people saw beautiful actors and actresses, etc.
are koreanovelas here to stay? people would usually crava for something new... but what if nothing's novel with them anymore?

i love watching asiannovelas. they are cute, sweet and do not really take long to get into the ending of the story. there are lots of funny asianovelas and viewers don't need to wait for too long just to see how the ending is. there's an element of surprise, too.

i agree with you. we had enough of lengthy telenovelas, most of them portraying usual themes.
