If you have kids, in your opinion, what is the best advise that you have given your kids so far and what is it? If you don’t have kids, what’s the best advise that you got from your parents? The best advise that I have given to my kids is “be like the fragrance of a flower so that people will feel your presence and would like it, not like a beating drum because no one like the noise of an eternal drum beating”. Also, please comment on my above advice.

hi,Very good advise..in the same lines we have one proverb, bronze will make more sound than gold, but gold is gold, and it has its own value.I never pressure my children to become class first like so many parents in our area,i ask them study well and you should be the rankers below 10 out of 75 students. From childhood itself,i have been doing like this. Now they are studying 9th and 7th.Now some times they express their happiness on me that they are not feeling pressure in studies. That leads to get 2,3 ranks and they used to praise me in this matter, not like other parents.I will refer the advise what you told to your kids to my kids also.

The best advice I've given to my children and received from my own mother is "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" Basically, silence is better than having turmoil. Another one for my boys...."Treat people like you would want to be treated" That one seems to help them think through what is good and not good.
